Good afternoon girls. Betty, thanks for starting a new thread for us.

Jessica- you have done a fabulous time with your weight the past 9 months. Any secrets you can share?

Pat- I'd be happy to get together with you and Diane. I have my first fill on Wednesday so we can Celebrate that! (not that we need a reason to celebrate.)

Have a terrific weekend everyone. :cursing:

Hi everyone,

Do you mind me joining your group?

I live in Howell, NJ, being banded on September 9. Very scared. My dh is on his 2nd tour going to Iraq. So I am basically alone, well my Mother will be with me for the surgery.

I am so looking for some buddies to do this with.

Thanks

Of course we don't mind....the more the merrier! Is your husband stationed at Fort Dix? My nephew is in Iraq now as well. I will keep them both in my prayers.

This is a really supportive group here.

welcome to the group Michaele!!! the ladies here are very helpful with anything that you can think of to ask. Your husband and all of our soldiers are in my daily prayers - give him a big hug for me when he comes home.

Donna - I wish I had the secret to my weight loss but im not really sure what im doing that is so different. I dont have a fill so im sure I over eat on occasion but I do work out 4-5 times a week and make sure im eating right. I do still eat some bad things but nowhere near what I did before surgery. I somehow managed to lose 13 pounds while on vacation. I was only eating 2 meals a day but I was eating dessert with both of those meals :-0 I guess dancing for 3-4 hours every night helped out alot. but no matter how it happened I will take it!!

have a great weekend ladies!

Donna, I think you're already on the same track Jetti used, small goals. Good luck with the fill. We'll talk before Wed :wink2:.

Eileenie, what you doing this morning? You're usually here before now.

Diane, sorry I missed your call, we rode up to Yorktown, had the top down and didn't hear the phone.

Sherry, what's up girl?

Betty, it's supposed to be a really good pool day here, 93, but supposed to feel like 100..yikes!

Has anyone watched Emril cooking "green" on the green channel? These chefs always make everything look so easy.

Have a great day ladies.

Oh yes, welcome Michaele.

Donna - Good luck with your fill!

Kat - I bet you are going riding today!

Trish - Are you rested up yet?

Ditto to this! Jess, you have done tremendous. My new hero....losing on vacation! You really have had great success. Kudos to you!

Michaele: Welcome! I'm a relative newbie here too. The more the merrier!

Trish - Are you rested up yet?

Well, sorry this is so short, but I need to run to home depo and I want it done early!

Later girls!

Betty: Rested, heck no! I returned to work on Thursday and they finally relocated my office while I was gone. (I've been trying to have things moved for months....) I still have lots of unpacking to do!

Did you say 106 degrees? Yikes!!! We've been having our share of t-storms lately. The positive...my lawn no longer looks like the Sahara. :Banane34:

Sherry: What's cookin' this weekend? Or, rather what's on tap? :)

Pat: You are always so busy doin' something here and there! You must have great energy.

Kat: I almost got to visit our local rodeo tonight for the 1st time. (They are Saturday nights only, Summer only). T-Storms has put it on hold until next weekend. Glad to see you back on this board!

Donna: Good luck with your fill. I think that I will be needing another soon. I feel as if I can still eat more than I should. I was hoping that I could be one of those that needed just one fill. Not realistic though... Glad to hear you had a great vacation too. My next vacation is minus my kids!

Diane: How's it going? You've had great success too! This question is for you and all the others that have lost...do you still steadily lose now or does it plateau the closer you get to goal? Or, do you mindfully plateau because you are comfortable at your current weight?

I finally had my first "clean out" of my closet today. It's taken 31lbs for me to start to toss some of my current sized clothes. Yesterday at work, my side-zippered pants hung like pajama pants. So, they are going in the goodwill bag. They used to fit like "skin on a baloney!" LOL I have about a large trashbag full. Now, I just will have to work through the several sizes of clothes that I have sadly hung on to. It will be fun once my closet shrinks and I can fill it up with new clothes! (Okay, thats probably about 1 1/2 years away!)

Good morning everyone,

Thank you for all the warm welcomes! I am so excited and freaked, my surgery date is September 9! That is only a month away! Oh man! I think the most I am so freaked about, besides the actual surgery, is trying to imagine myself thinner. I can't! I try and picture it, but I just can't!

Does that happen to any of you?

Do you guys ever meet up anywhere for coffee or something?

That would be great to do.

Have a good Sunday,

Michaele

Good Morning Y'all!

Well, nothing worked as planned yesterday, my dh come in shortly after I posted and wanted to go for a ride up to get get Breakfast. I decided it was a nice idea if I didn't have to cook. Of course we had to go out riding by the lake too! It was a nice ride and we got home before it got too hot. My company didn't come so that made it even nicer. I just needed some me time this weekend. Of course the day isn't over. It is supposed to hit the 107 today, so I have already went out and watered everything so it won't die.l We stayed in all afternoon yesterday and just rested.

Opps, dh is ready to go to home depo, gotta run, will check back in later.

Thanks Trish! The weight loss was steady in the beginning (for me, almost exclusively from the band), then it was time to step up to the plate...exercise, being more careful with food choices. During that time I hit a major plateau and was nowhere near goal! So now I try not to stress about it. If I'm real good, the scale moves in the right direction...if not, it's cause I've had too many "sugary" drinks  or hit too many M&M's! LOL!

Jessica:welldone2: Losing weight while on vacation!! I'm glad to see ya back! I just know you and your friend had a fabulous time in the DR! Man, you are a fantastic inspiration to all of us! I would love, love, love to see some progress pics of you, you've done so well! I replied to a gal, some time ago, who was so bummed out about her slow loss WL. I told her not to give up. Some lose faster than others (for a variety of reasons). And you, my dear, just might be the next face of LBT! Me, on the other hand, well...I'm on the 5 yr. plan, LOL!!!!!

Pat, I'd love to get together with you gals again! call me.

Michaele, glad to have you aboard!! I can relate to most of the stuff that you're feeling about being banded. My greatest joy in this journey (other than the Weight Loss) was the support, advice and understanding that I got from those on this site. I'm not from NJ. I'm from Williamsburg, VA but once I got here and discovered what a great group of folks are here, I stayed!

Betty, Donna, Sherry, Kat, Eileen, Chrispy Thinkin' of y'all!

gotta go now TTYL

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
