Got my Date! (my bday! lol)

Recommended Posts

I finally got my call back and I was excited to hear that I am approved! The only weird thing is that they have some kinda controversy over whether I will be in-patient or out-patient. I am kinda clueless, all I care is that I was approved! LOL. The last I heard is that I have to stay overnight but they... want me out before 23 hours? lol.. ok. whatever. LOL.

SO, I went in to pick up some paperwork and she gave me the date of September 8th ! Which is also my birthday. I will be 24. So, I am calling it my "re-birth day" lol. Whatcha think?

Congratulations!!! Your birthday?...now that is just seems so appropriate to me.

I was approved by my insurance for a 23 hour stay in the hospital too, that is just something they allow for in this surgery. The 23 hrs. vs 24 hrs. is a cost thing. 23 hours would be billed as outpatient whereas 24 hours would be billed as an overnight stay. Really it is the same difference for you though. My surgery went fine and I didn't want to stay in the hospital any longer than necessary so I chose to go home.

I was banded on July 22. One of the doctors in the clinic said I would have to stay overnight. The doctor who did my surgery discharged me as soon as everything was stable...about five hours from check-in to going home.

Your insurance may have approved overnight as a contingency...saves needing to get approval should you need to stay for some reason. Just a thought.

And, I know my insurance doesn't pay anywhere NEAR what the band actually costs, so I am guessing that the doctor who told me I needed to stay was hoping to recoup more of the clinic's expenses. A guess - I don't know that for sure!

Good luck to you, and Happy BIRTHday!

My wife and I had to stay overnight as well. Keep in mind the clock will start once you are in your room after surgery. My wife did not get to her room until 8 P.M. the day of her surgery and was not let go until 7:30 P.M. the next day. She was to have surgery at 3 but was pushed back until almost 5 P.M.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
