Had a Benjamin Bratt (The Cleaner on A and E) date tonight with my neighbour because we both love him, the show and she doesn't have cable. She doesn't know that I am getting banded next week. She brought Miss Vicki's chips and donuts!!!!! I didn't have not so much as a smell!!!!!

Damn, I was tempted though. I am on day 7 of the pre op diet and I could eat a moose up to his knees in gravy right now but didn't cheat. I have been sticking to the diet - still taking one cream in my coffee and have used a drop of Olive Oil in some of my stir fries but haven't really cheated.

I walked thru the mall today to get stuff for surgery next week - it was really hard walking past the food court - damn, why does grease have to smell so good!!!! Grocery shopping was hell too but I am so over it now:thumbup:

I know it is tough to resist temptation. We had a chocolate fountain at work the other day for a baby shower with every thing you could imagine to dunk in it. I had to sit in a corner with people I would have to climb over until I had enough self control to have two strawberries, two slices on banana and one (yes I said one) oreo.

Believe it or not it gets easier to say no to things we shouldn't have. You know you can't so you don't. It truly is mind over matter and you matter more. You get used to not having the bad things and you don't miss them as much. Others may disagree but it can be done.

Congratulations on doing what you had to do. Keep up the good work and good luck with your surgery.

What a combo- Benjamin Bratt & donuts... WOW! Your neighbor had a great night didn't she?!?! LOL

I've been going armed where ever I'm heading with healthy treats. My friend had a b-day party for her daughter and they were having Everything to do with grease and fat and junk! I brought along a McDonald's BBQ Grilled chicken wrap and apples... no one said anything to me and I didn't feel the need to explain myself! LOL I was prepared to tell them that I was on a diet, but everything worked out well.

As long as you can make a choice to either eat healthy or just take a bite of the 1 thing you are truly craving- you will succeed...

So if I'm craving chips- I measure out 1 serving - walk away - and that's it- craving gone! I use to eat an apple, some cherries, grapes, Water, milk etc... only to come back to those chips! LOL

1 serving didn't get you hear, it's the whole bag that did!

Best of luck to you...

:biggrin:I watched The Cleaner last night too. I had forgotten just how good looking Benjamin Bratt really is and he's a good actor. Congrats on staying legal. I was pretty lucky...my pre-op diet wasn't too restrictive. I was only limited to 1500 cal/day for one week until the day before when it was liquids only. I was banded on 7/10 and will start my mushies on Thursday. I can honestly say the only time I've even wanted "real" food was at a friends party the other night. She is such a great cook and her husband had BBQ'd everything. The smells and sights started getting to me so I just went outside, sat in the swing and drank my Protein Shake. I was quite proud! Before the band I would have eaten one of everything. Keep up the good eating and you won't regret it.

It does get easier...notice I didn't say easy. You invest a lot of time, energy and hope in the lap band and that helps with the craving. Also smaller clothes with actual, non-elastic, waistbands help too! Good luck on your surgery and hew life.

I HAVE HAD MY BAND A YEAR SINCE JUNE 30TH. I LOST A LITTLE BIT LIKE 25LBS THE FIRST 2 MONTHS AND THEN AFTER THAT I HAVE LOST NOTHING SINCE. BUT I GAINED A NEW SURGERY MY PORT FLIPPED OVER AND HAD TO GET ANOTHER SURGERY A WHILE BACK AFTER 5 MONTHS OF PUKING FROM HAVING MY FILL TO TIGHT AND DIDN'T LOSE A POUND. I WOULD GIVE ANYTHING IF I HAD LOOKED INTO SOMETHING ELSE IT SURE WASN'T WORTH IT TO ME. I KNOW THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT HAS LOST WEIGHT BUT FOR THE MOST I HAVE SEEN AND HEARD IT'S JUST AS HARD AS A REGULAR LOW CAR DIET EXCEPT YOU GET A FILL AND YOU PUKE IT UP. SORRY TO BE LIKE THIS BUT I'M SO DISAPPOINTED I ALREADY HAD PLENTY OF SURGEIES ON THE REST OF MY BODY AND THEN I ELECT ONE THAT DON'T WORK. I BET IF EVERYONE ON HERE WOULD SAY HOW HARD IT IS TO LOSE THE WEIGHT I MIGHT AS WELL JUST STAYED ON THE ADKINS. I AM GOING TO TRY TO GET A REVISION FOR THE MINI GASTRIC THEY DON'T HAVE TO RE-ROUTE MY INTESTINES. OR THE SLEEVE IT'S REVERSABLE TO AND I THINK IT SEWS OFF THE PART OF YOUR STOMACH THAT MAKES YOU FEEL HUNGRY. IF I HAVEN'T BLEW MY CHANCE OF GETTING SURGERY ON THE "LAP BAND" PLUS WHEN I sleep ON IT I WAKE UP SO SORE AND IT'S BEEN THERE FOR OVER A YEAR. I'M GOING TO STOP PUTTING IT DOWN BECAUSE IT DOES WORK ON SOME PEOPLE BUT I BET THEY ARE HUNGRY, START LOOKING AT FOODS AND SEE HOW MANY YOU CAN EAT THAT DON'T HAVE CARBS IN IT BUT MEAT..I USED TO LOVE meat I WOULDN'T EAT A MEAL WITHOUT MY MEAT WITH MY VEGGIES NOW I CAN'T HARDLY EAT MEAT THE THOUGHT OF IT MAKES ME SICK..UURRRGGG BUT GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE. SORRY I DIDN'THAVE GOOD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THE "LAP BAND"

 :sad: SAD TO I HAD MY HOPES UP TO AND GOT LET DOWN I COULD JUST CRY AND DON'T THINK I HAVEN'T.....

Heya Shand I'm sorry for everything you've had to go through, but I hope you don't mind my saying, I'm not sure this was the right thread to post it in. How does it relate to Suzie's victory and why rain on her parade?

Suzie, grats! You are doing great. Ever since I got banded I have become aware of just how much junk food is out there and how much of it people eat. Not just junk food, either. I have started to be amazed at restaurant portions! You are on your way.... good luck with your surgery, too!

Somehow the ticker got into your signature. Just go to Edit Options, Edit Signature, scroll down to the box where you will see some codes for the ticker, and just delete them. Then save your signature. Hope that helps.

BTW I don't believe the sleeve is reversable. They partition your stomach off from the part that produces Grehlin, the hormone that stimulates hunger. After the stapling is done you have a banana-shaped pouch, and the rest of your stomach is actually removed, so all that is left is your pouch. Go to obesityhelp.com for a complete description of the surgery. I saw one performed on Big Medicine (for some reason the new season was put on late at night with like 4 episodes back to back, and in one of them a sleeve was performed). The stomach was removed right through the laproscopic incision.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
