How much have you lost July Butterfllies??

Recommended Posts

My surgery date was 7/16/08. I have lost a total of 22 lbs. including preop. I am feeling rather discouraged because since surgery(4 weeks yesterday) I have only lost 8lbs., all in the first week. I haven't lost anything in the last 3 weeks!! I am eating nearly all Protein and adhering strictly to the diet. I am eating only 800-1100 calories, usually on the low end. According to the charts, I should even lose two lbs. a week on 2,180 calories. So why isn't the weight coming off? I have spent so much money and this is my last ditch effort. What if it doesn't work? Yes, 22 lbs. is great but its not near enough. I have another 100lbs to lose. Please encourage me!! Thanks.:crying:

I really can understand your frustration!! I am SO there too!! But I was talking with some other ladies and they said that weight loss should not be the focus during this time. We need to be patient(which is not a quality I have) and eat healthy until our first fill. I also have a lot more to lose (144lbs) than the 14 I have already lost. But I have to think about it this way, 14lbs is more than i have EVER lost in a month before! So maybe we both just need to take a deep breath and be patient. Not easy:cursing::lol::cursing:

Tottie, I lost 8 lbs in my first week post op 2 lbs in the second week, nothing in the 3rd week and 3 lbs in the 4th week but have put 2 lbs back on over the weekend (had a party and ate too much plus it's that time of the month). So, we're all hanging out here together before our first fill. Once we get our fills and hit the "sweet spot" we should start losing a lot more. I think our bodies also need time to adjust to drastic reduction in food intake as well. Right now it's probably hanging on to every single ounce of fat so we have to let our bodies get over the shock and kick in the metabolism by exercising. I know I will STARVE if I exercise and don't have any restriction so I'm waiting until after I get my fill to start exercising.

I was banded on the 22nd. As of today, I am 32 lbs lighter than I was before starting the pre-op diet and post-op. I am still losing about 5 lbs a week. I will see the dr again on 9/10. As long as I am losing that much, he may not want to do a fill. I have been able to eat just about anything, but don't. I am following a very strict, but not unrealistic, diet. Mostly Protein with carbs.

Hey guys! My surgery was July 29th. I lost 30lbs pre-op. Since surgery I have lost 12 pounds. I have 139 more to lose. Before surgery I worked out 6 days a week and ate healthy which is why I lost the 30lbs 5months pre-op. It was really hard not to be doing my normal routine. 5 days after the surgery I was back in the gym just walkin on the treadmill. Aug 6th I had foot surgery and that really knocked me for a loop. Six days after that surgery I got back into the gym and lifted weights. No more than 10lbs and only in isolation so I wouldnt hurt my stomach. I have found that I am exhausted when I finish and not hungry at all. Its been four days since beginning to lift again and I can tell a difference in my muscles. They are tighter and bigger and hopefully building the muscle will help prevent sagging skin. Please please exercise even if its only walking short distances. If you wait until your first fill or when you find your sweet spot you could be putting your body into starvation mode and you wont loss anything at all. Jump start your metabolism by moving and grooving.

I can't really tell yet and the fill was a piece of cake.(sorry I said cake)haha. I am anxious to really start losing, but I just have 2 be patient. Congrats 2 all you other july bandsters! My motto "The prize is worth the price".

Well, I was banded on 7/22 and have lost 26lbs as of last sat.(i only weigh on sat.) 13 of it was on the 2wk pre op & 13lbs post op but i've only lost 1lbs the past 2wks and i feel kinda stuck. waiting for that perfect fill. i think i'll do better when i can do more exercise. not that i'm a big exercise person or anything it's kinda like pulling teeth with me but i'm gonna just have to get over that. anyway congrats to all and happy losing.

Hi July butterflies! (are the guys moths? just wondering...)

Anyway, I have lost 30 lbs since the start of this whole thing (pre-op diet and post-op). I am feeling really good! I have been eating what I should and it isn't hard - I'm not feeling like I'm missing out and I'm not hungry between meals. I was eating larger portions than I should, but I just got my first fill yesterday and I noticed a marked difference in how much I want to eat at a sitting.

I am so happy with the way this has worked and how I'm doing. I hope everyone else loves their band as much as I love mine!!! Good luck to you all!!!

I didn't have a preop diet. I was banded on July 14th and I have lost 24 lbs. I am due to have my first fill on Wed. I am not sure if I am going to have it or not. I am satisfied eating around a cup or less of food and I stay satisfied for 3-4 hours. I am really scared of getting too tight. I haven't pbd or been sick at all and I don't want to start now. BUT... the PA that does the fills is going on a 2 week vacation and if I don't go on and get it, I have to wait two more weeks. What are y'all's thoughts on that?

Holy crap is what I think too... am on a bit of a stall, but I expect that is normal. I still marvel at the fact that I have lost 1/3 of what I want to already. I consider myself lucky, to be sure.

You are lucky, but TAKE credit for it too! It sounds like you have stayed with liquid Proteins mostly, which is what I have tried to do. I've had some tough times turning away certain foods that I used to binge on(like pizza and ice cream) Didn't want to even attempt them incase the old demons returned and I lost control. Could really hurt my band.

I have also lost about 1/3 of my excess weight. This is from my very heaviest back in late April when I really decided to go for the surgery.

Thing is that I have managed to lose 100+lbs 2x before. Difference is, now with our special tool, we will keep it off!!!!Yea for US! That is where we can really consider owerselves lucky!!!!!!!:mad2:

Hi Lotza!

I just found this thread so I thought I would share. I lost 6 pounds pre-op and have lost a total of 31 pounds as of today. I have slowed up now and had my first fill on 8/13/08. I feel restriction....I find that I can't eat fast or like today I had a Smart Ones chicken Parmesean and the chicken was tooooo dry and made me PB and it hurt really bad. I really have to watch how fast I eat and take small bits. What is really weird is that I have to watch how I eat but not HOW MUCH I eat. As long as I eat slow, I can still eat alot.

I guess I will have to wait until my next fill.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
