Feeling Restriction?

Recommended Posts

I have had three fills so far (my fourth is scheduled for Wed 7/23) and I don' t really feel restriction. I have a 10 cc band and have been filled

5/21 - 1.8 cc

6/11 - 1 cc

6/25 - 0.5 cc

So a total of 3.3 cc.

Is anyone else feeling good restriction yet? And if so, at what level is your band filled?

I have really good restriction at 5.5 in a 10 cc. Took 3 fills to get me there though. I've really had to adjust to the tightness, though, since my 1st two fills were NOTHING compared to this! Best Wishes...

I just had my fourth fill, not sure how much is in there at this point. I had no restriction until this fill although I still don't think I have hit my sweet spot. I only lost two pounds all of last month, but this week after the fill I lost 3 lbs so it is working. I think in a couple of weeks I will try to get one more fill. They only put a very tiny amount in this last time since my third fill was too tight, couldn't swallow Water, then they took too much out!

Right now I have 5.8 in a 10cc. My 1st fill was 1cc, then my 2nd fill last week was .8cc. My first fill was almost like a joke, haha. This time I feel more restriction, but I don't know. Like this morning I had 2 scrambled eggs and a small piece of sausage with it, around 8am. It's now 1:20 and I'm not hungry. A little thirsty, but not hungry. But I am going to eat a little to make sure I get some Protein. Now I need to walk and do weights like crazy to get this weight down more!

I get my first fill on August 9th. Can someone tell me what the difference is with eating after a fill? do you eat the same things but a lot less or do you have to change what you eat and still eat a lot less?

I've only had one fill so far, 2cc in a 10cc band. i go for 2nd fill on Aug. 12th. I'm still hanging in most of times at 1/2cup per meal. But not always. i was so starved last night I ended up eating a whole Sonic's burger...uggh was how I felt this am. I still lost 4lbs today on my wkly weigh-in, but that burger will catch up in about 2 more days! One good thing, I'm still very strong willed not to reach 1cup per meal until my bandiversary date. I'm feeling really good and proud of myself at present time. I go to kids camp next week and they fix all that no-no stuff so it will be interesting to see what I can end up eating.

I have 1cc in a 4cc band. I have had frothing episodes when I eat too fast or don't chew enough so I know that is some restriction. I am scheduled for a 2nd fill mid August. Unfortunately I discovered that sugary, fat foods don't cause any problems going down. It is mainly the Proteins (meats). Hopefully with a 2nd fill the bad food won't go down so easily!

Hi all,

I need some advice or guidance or something. So I have 3.5 cc's in a 7cc band. I was banded on the 30th of May, and my weight loss has been great, nothing to be upset about and I am still continuing to loose. However I have decided to go for anothr fill this thursday. Well here is the thing....I felt good restriction before, I mean I could eat more than a cup of food at a time but I felt so full and for so long. But lately, the past couple of days I haven't felt as full or for long. I dont know right now I am really stressed, and I have been so good on my diet, but we have had tons of visitors and just when we thought it would end 6 more people are coming to stay in our 1 bedroom apt. 5 kids one adult, so cooking for myself and my fiance is out the window. I dont know I guess I am asking if anyone has gone from feeling goof restriction to feeling hardly any at all, or not as full for so long. God I can not wait until my next fill! Thanks for being there guys

I have only had 1 fill and do not feel any restriction what so ever. I am going in for a second fill on Thursday. I am hoping to get more restriction because it seems like I am always hungry. Right now I can't even tell I have the band. I am going to ask my dr. on Thursday what kind of band and how big it is. Without this web site it never would have occured to me to even ask. You guys are doing great and are such an inspiration.

Can I ask those who feel no restriction (especially those receiving at least one fill) -Do you not have any "stuck" or "Frothing" episodes? Can you eat anything-or is the feel of no restriction related to feeling hungry? I was just curious because I do have difficulty with some foods and I do often "feel" hungry.

I can eat anything but if i am really hungry and eat too fast or swallow large pieces of food--i get the frothing,

I have 3.9ccs (1cc + 1.4ccs + 1.5ccs) in a 10cc band. I didn't notice restriction until the last fill. And then I noticed it as soon as I was off the 2-day liquids and back on to regular food.

Dry Proteins are not nice to me, regardless of how small the bite and how much I chew. It takes a lot less to get full and I stay fuller longer, for sure.

I have a checkup on this fill planned for August 15. If I don't need it at that time, I will reschedule for 2 weeks later to see how things are going.

I may have found a spot that will work for a while, it's exciting!

FeliaLevy75: How inspiring! I have been having a really rough time. I am eating way too much and eating sugary fatty foods. I have not lost any weight in 3 weeks. I am scheduled for a possible fill 9/9. I am going to try to get back on track with the eating and exercising so that I will have it under control for my next fill.

Awww, thanks, Ursa! It's always nice to hear that.

As for your food choices, have you been tracking what you eat? One of the theories behind tracking's success is that you are face to face, in the numbers, with what you eat everyday and what it does to your new healthy lifestyle (remember, this is not a diet... this is ongoing... this is life). When you see how the unhealthy stuff adds up, you tend to not want to see it anymore. If you don't eat it, you don't track it, and you don't have to see it on the list anymore.

You can do it. If you aren't already there, sign up LiveStrong.com to take advantage of their information and The Daily Plate. TDP is a great tracking tool.

Good luck!

Hi - I was banded May 5th and have had 3 fills thus far. I have a total of 1.8 in my 4cc band. My last fill was last Friday and I am finally feeling some restriction. No frothing or anything but when I eat I definitely feel full. I just ate 3 bites after my "full signal/burp" and am really feeling it now. This is good because it will help me to stop eating sooner.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
