Hi, I am going up to Arlington to have my fills. It is Dr. Dobson. They charge me $150 for a fill and $100 for X-Ray. How much are you guys paying?

How do we support one another, for those of you living in Waco Texas?

Gigi

Does anyone know of a fill doctor near Waco TX?

I have been visiting a doctor in Arlington TX, about 2 hours north of

Waco TX. If anyone lives in Waco and knows someone closer, would you

let me know?

THANK YOU!

Gigi

I've been reading the yahoo group for Dr. Sanchez in Mexico (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ready4achange/). There's a doctor in College Station who is banded and has gone to Dr. Sanchez to train to do fills. She's not doing them during her regular hours, but will meet you at her clinic on Sundays (which is great for me!)

I'm not banded yet, but since reading about her, will probably have my fills there. Here is her answer to my inquiry:

-----

Hi Fay! Yes, I do the banding on weekends (only :) ). Usually on

Sundays. So come on over when you're ready---just send me an email

directly seijsink@swmail.sw.org and we'll get you an appt. You're going

to love the band!!!

Hugs, Dr. Stephanie

-----

The usual disclaimers apply: I can't speak personally for her, I don't work for her and unfortunately don't receive kick-backs from her.

Hope this helps.

Hoiw much does she charge? I go to someone in College Station also but he only does it during regular work hours which means I have to take off work. I really like him but Sundays would be GREAT!

Thanks!

Yes, how much does she charge? Do you have her contact number?

Basically, I just have her e-mail, listed above. That seems to be her preferred method of communicating. She charges $200 - not the cheapest around I'm sure, but worth it for me not having to screw around with my work schedule.

Since I'm 2 months away from banding, I would love to hear from you if you go to her and get your opinion.

Well, I'm going to answer my own question about Dr. Stephanie in College Station. Here is a posting from the yahoo! group for Dr. Sanchez, where I first heard of her:

I just had to come in and post because I had the best experience
going to Dr. Stephanie yesterday. She was one of the sweetest people
I have ever met and I would highly recommend going to her for your
next fill.

The process was more in depth as the complete fill was done under
flouro. I appreciated this so much more as I could see what was
actually going on.

I have had an extremely slow weight loss with my band. I am now at
3.4 cc. and have only lost 15 lbs since July 13, 2005. For some
reason my band was not as tight as others would be at the same cc
level. Dr. Stephanie made sure there was a change in my restriction
using the flouro before she sent me on my way.

It took a couple of tries but her bed side manner isincomparable and
she wanted to make sure the job was done right. I feel so much better
about my fill this time around. I was going to Dr. Maese's office but
will be following up with Dr. Stephanie now instead. She took the
time to make sure things were done correctly and that all of my
questions were answered as opposed to making me feel like "just
another fill".

Thanks to Dr. Stephanie I feel as if I am finally on my way.

She sounds like a winner.

Fay,

Thanks for posting about Dr. Stephanie. I contacted her after reading what you had to say and she seems very nice & enthusiastic and not at all judgemental about my Mexican banding experience (like some local docs I have spoken with). I finally feel comfortable enough with an american physician to have fill.

One thing I'm not sure you mentioned is that she has a band herself so she's very familiar with things from that respect.

My appt is next Sunday. I'll have to drive quite a far bit, but it's not as far as Mexico! And I look forward to meeting Dr. S.

Thanks again!

Holly

Hi all,

Its Dr. Garwood. I am working at the Urgent Doc in Nacogdoches Texas most days but I am also still doing fills. If you need to reach me call the clinic and ask for me 936-560-9898 or reach me on my cell at 979-575-7740. I just wanted to remind everyone that I do fills on foreign lapbands as well as local lapbands. I have reasonable prices and want to keep you from having to make a trip back to Mexico. I do most of my fills in Lufkin, Texas. Call if you have any questions or would like to make an appointment. I look forward to your calls.

Thanks

GGarwood, DO

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
