hi!

Okk i was eating so wonderfully then i just HAD to go for my 3rd fill didn't I!!!

Now it kind of hurts when i eat! It's like i can't swallow properly and it takes long to go down the pipe - a bit like Constipation i guess! Pehehehe!!! The only difference is that i dont like not eating at ALL!

Also, my doc puts milli... something, not the "cc" that you guys talk about! I think i had around 6, then when he put the 7th one that's when the damage was caused! I can't even eat chips without it getting stuck in my pipe! If i take half a mm out then do you think it will make a difference!!!??

The only good news is that FINALLY after alot of practice the doc can now stick a needle in me for a fill really quickly and i dont get anymore shooting "heart attack" pains!

And i still don't know what PB is, some sort of slime or something?? Well at least i am not doing that!

Thanks!

When did you get this fill?

Most surgeons (and all of us here) recommend at least 24 hours of liquids after a fill, and another 24 hours of mushies.

Are you having any trouble drinking Water? even sips?? If so, then you may be too tight. If not, then try taking smaller bites and waiting longer between bites.

Heres a thread that we talked in detail about PB's. Good luck, and keep us posted on your journey!

Yes, you will be amazed what a difference removing such a tiny ammount will do, it will make it more comfortable to eat but still give you enough restriction to still lose.

May I ask why you went in for your third fill? Were you not losing ? Were you eating to much? I ask because you have such great wieght loss in such a short period.

If this continues through the weekend, definately call your doctor.

hey! thanks for the feedback and the website!

Well i can swallow liquids no problem - yes i do feel restriction but that is just normal right?.

Maybe it's because it's only the 3rd day without doing any liquids. I just started to eat normally. Now that i think about it, i think the pain could be my stomach pipe being a bit sore from the fill?? Cause really i have no pain with Water.

Thanks for the advise - i think i will wait for a few more days - if i still feel pain i will take half a mm thankssssssssssssssssssss!!!

Hi All.....I just got my fourth fill last tuesday ( 4 days ago)...I did liquids for the first 24 hours...but since then I've had the exact same problem of the food getting stuck in my "pipes" I'm pb-ing 5-6 times a day...(I'm a nurse and i've even done it in front of my Doctor that I work for...very embarassing)...but the pain in horrible and I have found that if i drink something warm even warm Water then it will finally go down...Here is my problem I was banded on 2-4-15 and this is the first time that I have had any restriction...I've lost 6 pounds in the 4 days....My first weight loss in the 3 months since being banded....should I try liquids another few days before I contact my surgeon I am finally restricted and I'm just afraid of that he will just put me back at the stand still stage again.....Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....Also does pb-ing do anything to the band like the vomiting does? You know like it could cause slippage?

hi!

ohhhh sorry about the pbing thing! Maybe if you doc could just take a bit out? So the fill will still be more than before - but not as much as now - other banders say that can make a great difference! I'm going to try that as well.

Let's see what others say i am sure they will have good advise!

Good luck!

1 milliliter = 1 CC You must have a 10CC band. 1/2 mm could make a big difference.

The only good news is that FINALLY after alot of practice the doc can now stick a needle in me for a fill really quickly and i dont get anymore shooting "heart attack" pains!

It's probably not that he needed practice (if he's done bands before), but the band becomes easier to locate the more weight you lose, as a general rule.

And i still don't know what PB is, some sort of slime or something?? Well at least i am not doing that!

PB = Productive Burp. When food comes up because you didn't chew well enough, ate too fast or too much. Not a full blown barf as there is no stomach acid.

General rule of thumb is that if you can get liquids down, then go to liquids only for about 1-2 weeks, if you can handle that. If you're still too tight, then get an unfill. You might just be swollen after the PB or the fill. After you PB, you should go back to liquids ONLY for at least 24 hours. Otherwise, you'll just irritate an already irritated stomach.

PBs have been thought to cause slippage -- but not just 1 PB, but a history of them.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
