My first fill Tues July 7!!!

Recommended Posts

I did it!!! Thank you for all your encouraging words and support I finally got the guts today to call my doctors office and I was able to reschedule for tomorrow Tues 7!!!...Like I said in my first thread "Help!!! Have I failed???" I have been eating uncontrollably...I am a food addict/emotional eater and this kicked in...after reading all the entries in this website I see that its normal to gain weight in the time after your surgery and before the first fill. As soon as I got my appetite back on the 3rd week after my lap band surgery on May 12, 2008 I started eating uncontrollably and every kind of junk food and I feel like I gained some of the weight back that I had lost already and was feeling really embarrased to go back to the doctor's office. But like I said before all your encouraging words and support gave me the strength to call and reschedule my appointment for tomorrow. I am nervous!!! And what I have read is that this is when the real weight loss starts...I am so excited!!! I need to loose at least 275lbs to get to my ideal weight so I am ready to start this path to physical and mental wellness. Is this normal what I have gone through??? I will keep you guys updated what happened to me with the doctor in my first fill...Once again thank you to each and everyone of you who responded to my thread and gave me encouraging words!!! GOD BLESS!!!

Jorge,

I am so happy for you that you had the courage to call and get that fill appointment! BRAVO! :)

You went through nothing strange, we all have been there. Now you have to make wise foods choices and you will lose weight very quickly. It will probably take a couple fills for you not to have a lot of hunger often. But that day will come!

Don't get discouraged when the loss starts to slow down. That's the signal that you need another fill. If an appointment isn't scheduled already, be sure to make one asap. Ask your doc how often you can get new fills. You want to keep the steam going...

Keep in touch. I will rejoice your every pound lost with you!

Katja

Jorge,

I am getting my first fill 7/11. I was banded on May 23. So far I have been lucky and have not been really hungry. That's not to say I haven't eaten. Boredom and just mindless eating are my problems. Sometimes my choices are not very good. But this is a RELEARNING PROCESS and I will learn to do better. Hopefully today you will see that the doctors and staff are there to help and encourage us to get to our goals. This from a west valley girl to an east valley one.. Good luck

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
