Need motivation

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

It's been almost 18 months since I had my surgery, and I've lost 120 lbs. My birthday was the end of last month and I really pushed hard to lose some weight to go skydiving.

Now, I need some motivation to get moving again. I gained 3 lbs on vacation last week (I'm sure it was the margarita's) --- and am having a hard time getting back in the swing.

Anyone have anything to help me get motivated? I don't want to get stuck where I am, I have 30 lbs to go... HELP!

First off, CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss!!!!! That is phenomenal and something to be proud of. You can get back on track - gaining a couple pounds during vacatin is not uncommon. Just remember why you did the band in the first place. Maybe focus on some extra exercise and make mini goals so you don't get overwhelmed with the 30 pounds left.

You have done well and you can achieve your goals! It is up to you.

Wow You need motivation??? 120 pounds off.... GRATZ!!!

3 pounds in the light of 120 is nothing....

I only hope in 17 more months I can come even close to where you have gotten yourself... I should be asking you for motivation!!!

I am still waiting on my first fill and have stalled for the last week and am considering putting myself back on the Atkins shakes for a day or two b4 my fill so I can get jumpstarted... worked great on the pre-op diet:tt2:

I'm TOTALLY impressed with your success! I've just started my journey, so seeing your success is exciting.

Go buy yourself a new dress or something nice one size smaller than you are now. Have that be your goal. Or plan a mini-vacation when you drop another 10 lbs. Plan your rewards then make them happen. Make sure your goals are realistic and reward yourself for the little successes along the way.

So what kinds of things have already motivated YOU along they way? Whatever it has been it must have been working so you must share.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments :smile2: - and I LOVE the idea of buying something a size smaller. I think I need to go out and buy something cute that doesn't quite fit ::redface:

For those of you just starting, the lapband is a wonder. It doesn't do everything for you - you need to focus on healthy eating and exercising - but it makes a world of difference. It is the best tool I've ever found and I know you can do it!!!

Wow.. I must say that dammmmmm u are doing freekin fantastic!!!!!... I had to stop typing and get up and dance for u... seriously.... baby... make sure u are taking Fiber to keep things moving... and not sure if u are lifting weights or what kind of excercising u are doing but kick it up about 30-minutes every other day and that will help to burn more off.. also cut out more of the carbs u are eating for about a week and gradually add them back so your body wont get use to being without them... u know.. the days u work out 30-minutes more eat more carbs.. and the days u don't eat less... keep it going like that and u shouldn't have a prob... keep me posted... and again... u are doing the damn thing.....

OMG yay you!!! Don't be sadden by the small weight gain you have done AMAZING!!!! I agree with maybe making some small goals so you don't feel stressed about the 30 pounds. I like to make my next goal hitting the next set of ten's as I go. If I get on the scale and It's 248 I say YES!! Now 239! Just get me to the next tens lol

Also I know sometimes we get burned out on what we are eating. Get a great cook book or search out some recipes that are different and incorporate the foods you like to make something new. I find I cook more now that I am making better food choices and the family loves it too!!!

(thumbs up) YOU ARE DOING AWESOME!!!

You have done GREAT!! But I understand where you're at. Last year I got down to 201 pounds and absolutely could NOT bring myself to push forward and break 200. Just couldn't. So what did I do? I gained 55 pounds. That's when I had my surgery and now here I am, working my way back down to 201 (and below).

Last week I got a BodyBugg and it has motivated me big time. Being able to see how many calories I am working off each day, has been very revealing. No wonder I wasn't losing weight sometimes when I thought I should.... after all, I'm on my treadmill every morning, and that should be enough, right? Wrong! The BodyBugg showed me that that treadmill wasn't burning nearly as many calories as I thought. Guess what has burned the most calories so far? Cleaning house! (I mean really cleaning the house really well, scrubbing toilets, mopping floors, etc., for about 3 hours).

I've also seen that it's the little things all day long that really use up the calories.... walking around the office, walking through the grocery store, using the stairs instead of the elevator. Now I'm making it my daily challenge to use up 2,450 calories a day (which is what I'm supposed to be using up, and eating 1200 calories a day). For me it's been a great motivator!

Trina, that's great! It is a lot of money though so please read as much as you can about it to make sure you think it will be worth it to you. The price includes 3 months of the website and after that you can pay by the month but it's much cheaper if you pay for a one year's subscription which is $99. And without the website, the bugg is useless.

It's helped me simply because it has broken it down into simple math and taken the guess work away. I told it I wanted to get to 199 by my birthday in mid-Sept. and it calculated for me how many calories I can eat each day and how many calories I have to expend. At the end of each day I can see how I did for that day. Right now I'm having a hard time expending all the calories I need to, but it will get easier as I get a better understanding of what it will take.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
