I am back and banded!

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I had my surgery on Thursday morning and am back to work today. I have felt great with no problems whatsoever. I may not be able to stay all day as I feel a little tired but so far so good. I am on anything that you can sip through a straw or eat with a spoon...but I have kept it simple like clear Soups, Jello, popcycles, Water thinking that would make my adjustment easier and maybe less painful. Dr. Malley was great as was Midland Spine and Specialty Hospital in Overland Park..so if anyone form the KS areas is reading these posts...three thumbs up!

Welcome back sounds like you are doing very good. I kept a water bottle at my desk and would sip every little while.

Don't overwork your self and if you can take short walks around your office just to keep the circulation going.

Great grammi! Thanks for letting us know. Sounds like all went well and you are back to work already, wow! Good for you. Good move on being conservative on the eating. You have the rest of your life to eat, so this next littel bit of time will go by quickly. Take care of that band! Welcome to Bandland!!!!

Okay, so I'm SO glad to hear you got surgery on Thursday and back to work on Monday. This has been a worry for me. My surgery is scheduled for a Thursday and I'd like to be back at work on Monday. I'm also going to ask my boss for that whole week, but I may not get it, so I'm happy to hear it can be done. Just gotta set my mind to it I think.

Excited for you! Be sure to post your experiences so those of us close to our own journey can benefit!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
