RSG, you are clearly unaware of the lying lesbian terrorists (they refer to themselves as the "LLT's"). Watch out for them.

I mean I've been fired for being gay, I have had people find out at work (not this one another job) and suddenly become icy and cruel.

OK, someone being fired for being gay simply pisses me off and in that case I WILL say something to their faces and won't even attempt to be civil and I really don't care about the consequences, that's plain cruel, stupid ridiculous people...:tongue_smilie:

Plain- I just read your post and cracked up.

Elenation- You anger strangely gives me hope for humanity. It is illegal in most states, but in louisiana we are at at will state which means that you can pretty much be fired for sneezing. Your employment is "at will" of the employer.

Ugh! what a disgrace, so does that mean that in Louisiana your employer can fire you for being hispanic and they have the right to say it to your face and get away with it? or for being gay, or black? or any other racist reason? and I suppose they are within the law? that's just unbelievable, I never knew that, and obviously there is nothing anyone can do about it...wow....:frown: that sucks and I can't even believe how such law is allowed in this country.

No, an employer couldn't discriminate...but they could fire somebody without giving a reason (wink, wink).

I sit right next to someone like this. We hit it off quickly, and I liked her right away. As time goes on however, I’m finding myself doing my best to keep a distance.

Especially since one day we were talking and outta nowhere she starts throwing around negative comments toward African Americans. Frankly, I was pretty shocked. I was mostly shocked because I couldn’t believe she would think that I would have this same view. I never once led her to believe I did, so I felt mostly like it must have been something I’d done or said that would make her feel comfortable enough to say such things

Well Ready, in answer to your question, all I felt I could do was just look at her and kind of nervously slough it off. Then I turned around and started doing my work again. I seriously had no clue what to do. I was truly embarrassed for myself and for her. Who in the 21st century still thinks like this?

The most bizarre part of this whole thing is she claims to be a True Christian. Recently our boss sent around one of those Christian emails, and yesterday morning Im reading it as she comes into the office. She said “hello” and I said he same and continued reading, mostly because I didn’t feel like talking at the moment, not because I was really interested in the email. Frankly I didn’t feel emails like that are appropriate for the workplace, but that’s another topic entirely. She comments on me being quiet, I tell her Im reading the email “boss” sent around. She reads it and says “Wow, I’m so proud of ‘boss’ that he is doing things like that now” I say absolutely nothing, I do NOT share her view, but Im not going to get into right then and there. We are at work. So she reiterates that “VERY proud”. Again I say nothing.

She lets it go finally, but I just want to reply to the question. My response is always to just ignore it and hope it will go away. Some of you are fortunate where you don’t have to sit next to these people for nine, ten hours a day. Some of us do, and it can get pretty aggravating.

hhmm...I see, because that would fall under discrimination....even though that doesn't make it any better really... :) because ultimately they get away with it...:confused:

No, it really makes it even worse...because both parties usually know the real reason for the termination.

Yeah you are right, actually that pisses me off even more... because on top of being racists and prejudiced they are also being two faced hypocrites, lying to our faces, and making some BS excuse probably thinking that we are so stupid to realize the ugly truth... all of that makes it much worse...it's pathetic and sickening...

In this same vein (sp), my uncle is a kerazzzzyyyyyy Republican and began sending me these BS emails during the Bush/Kerry election and it has now begun again. Last election, I asked him not to send me anything political b/c we are SO far apart politically.

Today he sent me some "Obama's gonna tax us to death" email. I um kinda went off on him about how Bush Sr left Clinton with a huge debt that he whittled down only to have Dubya spend money like a drunken sailor. I also um kinda told him that he could keep sending the craziness but that I didn't read them.

OK so I was a little rude but HELLO this has been going on for at least 4 years. OMG

I hate that mindless political dribble (the kind that comes without references so you can validate....or worse, the kind that deliberately distorts quotes, takes things out of context, etc), whether from the right or the left.

BTW sick, even if you are a liberal, I forgive you.

To paraphrase:

All it takes for evil to continue is for good people to do (or say) nothing.

Do you believe everything happens for a reason? If you do, then you might wonder why all of a sudden so many people are coming to you with the same thing. Could it be that the universe or god is trying to tell you something? Do you think maybe its time you did speak up and let people know you won't be a party to what they are saying?

Everyone has a right to their opinion, what about you? Don't you have an equal right to your own? The next time someone comes out with one of these comments, you can let them know you don't agree with them. Doesn't have to be rude, just to the point.

When the Nazis came for the communists,[/url]

I remained silent;

I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,

I remained silent;

I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,

I did not speak out;

I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,

I remained silent;

I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,

there was no one left to speak out.

Hmmm...too funny that I happened upon this conversation today. Just this morning someone did the whole "lean in and chuckle" about some completely inappropriate comment. My nice gene was out sunbathing at the pool but, alas, work does pay the bills so I had to be nice. "Nice" this morning was "I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I actually disagree with that. I don't really think that we should speak on this again." I think the whole "proper southern woman movieness" of the second line threw him off guard.

Last night I was on the phone with a girlfriend of mine, love her to pieces but sometimes I just want to strangle her. She was going on and on about a co-worker she has and how mean he is etc. Then she dropped the N word like I should have agreed with her. I was polite and told her that she needs to find another word to use as I personally do not like the word and wont talk if it is used again. She actually got mad at me and told me that as her 'best friend' I was obligated to agree with her ... blah blah blah ..

I was tired and just wanted to go to bed, that and I was tired of being on the phone as she was the 3rd person in a row I talked too that late at night, so my comments to her weren't so nice.

Told her that because I was her friend I wouldn't agree with her and tell her when she was wrong not enable her prejudiced and make it "ok" that she uses certain epitaphs of hatred. I asked her to REALLY think about it and how would she feel if some random stranger started going on of indians around her knowing I am indian. It shut her up and she said goodnight in a really quiet "omfg I forgot your not white and I really stepped in it this time" voice. Woke up to 4 txt messages from her apologizing for her words and the promise that she will be more tolerable.

I wont hold my breath but hey I can hope.

      Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

      2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

        I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

      Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

        I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

        Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
