Buffalo, NY Band 6-30-08 HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE!!!

Recommended Posts

No..I never got a shot. I did have a patch behind my ear and they gave me Reglan (sp?) for nausea, but no matter what, the room just kept spinning and I kept heaving. I'm just so nervous about the fills now. I hear so many people talk about bad fills with lots of poking and prodding with VERY long needles! Don't know if I can do it!

What a nightmare! I hope you are feeling better each day so that you can appreciate what the band can do for you.

I was lucky. I was banded 7/3 at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara. They gave me 3 different things to keep me from getting sick like you were. I even got a patch behind the ear that lasts for 24 hours. As a result, I've not had any problem.

For anyone who hasn't been banded yet, be sure to ask you doctor what he does in the way of preventative medicine regarding nausea. I was given a shot, a drink of something and the patch. And I have never had any problems with anethesia, but they still did it, and I'm glad.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

Can you describe to me what your "rough days" are like? What do you mean by this? Also, how many fils have you had? thanks!

My rough days, as I said earlier are all self inflicted. 8-). I usually have a rough day when I pick at food all day long and don 't give my body the opportunity to digest it before I put something else in, then I will typically eat dinner and it all comes back up. By the way, none of the foods I am talking about are considered the healthiest for me. On one of these days, i even threw up ice cream! I wouldn't recommend "learning" about your band this way. I would eat 3 small meals a day and maybe a fruit in between as needed and call it good!

I have had a fill about every 3-5 weeks since late October through late April. I have lost count of the number. I have a 13 cc band and have 9.2 cc's in currently and was REALLY tight for about 4 weeks after this last fill. (I could eat 2-3 bites and be done) Just as I was ready to go get a bit taken out it started to ease up a bit.

It really is easier than anything else I have ever done...and I have done it ALL! You will be fine, I am sorry you had a difficult surgery experience...it really shouldn't have been like that.

Here's to a speedy recovery!:)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
