This is one of those things the surgeon hates to see. I do think everybody goes through that stage - I did too. You have to look at the situation in a different light. You will probably have a 2 week diet prior to surgery. It is important that you lose during this period as the fat around the liver needs to shrink to make the surgery safer. At some point in the future, you will be able to eat some of the things you are giving up - but you won't be able to eat as much of them. You are really not giving up anything except the weight. You might want to start working on your mental thoughts. You are doing this to make yourself healthier, right? It really is not so bad after the banding. You have some time on Clear Liquids and Protein, and shortly you will be on soft foods. I do know where you head is at - I ate like I would never eat again. I had to chamge my thinking.

I sure did too!! But I'm over it now..............I say that now! But I bet ya the day before my liquid diet starts I will be at Black Angus ordering 3 orders of their garlic cheese bread and eating them all myself!!!!!!!!!!!! That darn bread is my weakness..........and post band I'm hoping that I can at least have a small bite or two............if not, I'm going to figure out a way to blender it...either that or just lick it!

Im so there with u momto5. Its like ive been given free rane to eat what i like. I was in weight watchers before desiding to be banded, so since than ive put on 4 lbs. all my clothes are getting too tight - but there is no way im buying anything new yet. I have the liquid diet to start in 2 wks so that will help. I know i will have to change my thinking bout food, 1 thing ive desided to do is not watch any weight programs cause food just comes into ur head - even if its someone having surgery for the weight loss im not watching them any more.

I can totally relate to you Mom! The only thing I'm pigging out on right now is beef, since I hear that I won't even be able to tolerate any of it for awhile after surgery...in any portion and any leanness. :( I like my cow  So we are having spaghetti with meat sauce, burgers on the grill, and steak, steak, steak. I completely understand the reason for my body not being able to handle beef early on, but I'll sure be crying inside.

I have allowed myself the "farewell" tour of not so good food - but only once a week and limit to one meal. This weekend I am spending my $50 gift card from the Outback Steakhouse:drool: I have it since Christmas and I know I will not use it after being banded. I have lost a little of weigh by myself before the band and I don't want to gain anything back.

Aww man I wish I could eat my "farewell" foods, but I've been instructed to lose 12 lbs before surgery (in a month) or it will be postponed..grr

Thanks for the idea. I haven't had no bake Cookies for a long time. I love them so much. My girls will still be getting them after I am banded, and I never eat very many of them (ya right). I think it has been a year or more since I made the last batch. I've been trying to eat a little differently since I decided to make the appointments to get the band.

There really isn't anything "off-topic" on this board :biggrin2:For me, no-bake Cookies have cocoa, oats, milk, vanilla, splenda and some kind of binder (butter or crisco-ish.) I mix it all up in a bowl, do spoonful drops on waxed paper, and then let them "dry" either on the counter or in the fridge until they firm up a bit. There are some good recipes at cooks.com. Just query no-bake cookie.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
