Who's Getting Banded in August???

Recommended Posts

HI! I will be banded on August 14th at Colorado Bariatric Surgery Institute in Denver, by Dr. Matthew Metz. I am starting my clear liquid diet today. I am so excited and nervous at the same time.

and I am so scared! Glad I came to work today; try to keep my mind off of it. I keep thinking... what if something really bad happens to me?! I will feel so stupid! LOL

Really looking forward to writing my first AFTER surgery post. Good luck to all of you and thanks for everyone's support and encouragement, and advice.

Hi Everyone-

I will be having my surgery this coming Friday with Dr. Kahlil in San Diego. The last weeks have been very exciting, but now the excitement is turning into nerves. I started my Protein Shakes this weekend, my doctor recommended the shakes from costco, they are o.k.

If anyone has any recommendations for preperations I could make prior to Friday I would really appreciate it. I live in a very rural area and have an hour drive to the nearest grocery store so I'm hoping to be prepared prior to Friday.

Thanks so much for any help.

Thanks

Angie

Has anybody else had to down 2 bottle of this stuff the day before surgery to clean out your bowels? I need to drink this all day starting Wednesday morning and people are telling me I should take off work that day. I have a BR close to my office. Do I really need to take off? I hardly have any food in my system anyway. Please Advise. Thanks:confused::):)

Hello all!

It’s crazy how our stories all differ a bit. The gas has about killed me. I can't burp to save my live so thank God it can come out the other end...lol

I just today experienced the weird BMs. But with that comes more gas out so I can live.

I can totally lie on my sides and that has helped with getting the gas out. I will say I am SO tired of the liquid diet. But this to shall pass. :wink2:

I got myself a nice new scale today and like what it said already!

Good Luck All!!

Hey Shamrockgirl - nice to hear that everything is progressing well. A question though - Why did you have to wait before you used your CPAP? I am really not able to sleep without one. They told me to bring mine in with me when I go for surgery on Friday. Please fill me in.

hi guys,

i'm from maywood, il; a suburb of chicago. Shout out to all you illinois bandsters.

i've been tipping in on this site for over a year now and you folks are great! I have had so many of my questions answered. My surgery date is 8/13/08 12pm - finally - and it's taken so many years to get here. I'm excited, nervous, & yes scared. I have never been this concerned going into surgery before. This whole process has taken so long and been so un-nerving it keeps you on edge; and now i’m like "oh my god, i'm really going to do this" – my answer to self – “yes i am going to do this and this will give me the edge to do great things”. Dr. Peter rantis from the kane center at alexian brothers hospital in arlington heights, il. Is performing my surgery. Well just wanted to say hi and thanks to all of you who have had the courage to make a drastic change and share it with others as you are doing here. Please pray for me - like i said i'm a little nervous. I'll keep you posted as to my progress.

goodbody, out

I've got 2 days left before being banded on Thurs. Aug 14th. I'm SO excited! I can't wait to be over this liquid diet and NOT feel hungry!

I went to the hospital today to pre-register and do blood work. Then had to go over to the Dr. office to weigh and pay my portion of the surgery. I had lost 9 lbs. since last Tuesday. I thought that was great.

I hope these next 2 days go by fast!

Angie, when I was on Protein Shakes prior to my surgery on August 4th I put it in a blender with 4 ice cubes and put the blender on puree for 30 seconds and it made it like a thick malted. It helped me get thru.

Take Care,

LindaGail

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
