I cant believe my energy level since losing 50 lbs. it is just awsome.

I am still extremely heavy but it is nice seeing the weight drop instead of skyrocket. lol

I'm loving life with over 60 pounds gone. I sometimes think I'm getting complacent. Today while I was walking I was pep talking myself....or drill sergeant talking myself. I have a little more than 25 pounds left to lose and dagnabit I'm going to do it!!!!

Hello!

I agree - it is so nice to have 65 lbs. gone. I can hardly believe it! I've had many NSVs from being able to lean over and tie my shoes, crossing my legs, running (not far, but something I haven't been able to do for years) to many, many wonderful compliments. I've slowed down with my loosing - now loose from 4 to 6 lbs. a month but I'm satisfied with this pace. I have yet to have a fill - my doc says if it ain't broke, don't fix it - so I'll just keep going the way I've been going.

I am so proud of us!

Kathy

Yay! Today I reached Onederland! Ugh, I don't know what to do with myself. Buying clothes always makes me feel bad, even now... does anyone have any suggestions as to how to Celebrate?

Congratulations, Katiebug! I'm edging close to Onderland and know I will be thrilled to get there. Unlike you, I love to go shopping now and am indulging myself with new summer clothes that I won't be able to wear next year but am not feeling any guilt! I denied myself that joy before I had my surgery. Can you maybe take a mini-vacation to some place fun to Celebrate?

Oh man, I just took a mini-vacation to California in May. I work at a daycare, so it is REALLY hard to get any time off. Maybe I'll just force myself to go & buy some clothes. It's getting harder & harder to wear my old clothes... & that's about all I have. I NEED new clothes, I just hate it. Haha.

Congratulations on making it to Onderland, Katie. I know what an accomplishment it was. I can't wait for my celebration. I am still on target for August 1. The weight loss has really slowed down. I think I am ready for my third fill. I am going to call in the morning. This past week I have developed a case of the hungries. I have managed to corral it so far but choosing some different foods. I have increased my amount of food at each meal by a couple of bites also. I only lost a pound this past week.

I really think all of us December bandsters should pat ourselves on the back. We are doing it - living our dream. I saw a statement and it is so true. I LIKE THE WAY THAT I FEEL FAR BETTER THAN ANY FOODS I MAY BE MISSING. I no longer rely on a scooter to get around. I actually took a trip out of state without it and kept up with my sister for the entire 5 days.

BTW Katie, you may find that you no longer hate shopping. Your new figure will be an incentive and you will look so much better and thinner in clothes that fit. I know I do. And soon I can shop in regular size pants. I am already there in tops.

I really should maybe get a slight unfill but I no longer have insurance, so thats not even an option for now. I don't mind though. food is no longer in the back of my mind; I can go the whole day without even thinking about eating. It's nice. Honestly though, I never thought I'd make it this far. Gah!

Way to go Losers!!! Katie, I hope you find you enjoy shopping a lot more now that you have more options. As the pounds drop the choices get more and more. It's very amazing how that works.

The thing about shopping is, I probably could be in a size 16 but I can only imagine the muffin-top I'd have... I am still soooo self-conscience about how I look. My top half is like normal looking now, but the bottom of me is still much bigger than the top. I don't know.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
