Okay - ya'll I won't be running today. I've had a sick child and am under the weather as well. I've been nausiated all day and am just plain exhausted. I hope I'm not getting a stomach virus! I have some meds here in case it gets worse. I haven't had a chance to post in the last couple of days. I hope everyone is doing well!

Tootie, Way to go on a great first day!!

Sugar, Hope your leg is better real soon.

Mamato, I can just see myslef screaming "tell her to hold it!!". You are so good. I might have gotten in trouble on that one.

georgia, Stay in the house. Seriously, I hope you are doing ok this evening. Take it easy girl.

Leslie, Get better real soon. hope your kiddo is doing better too.

I went to the doctor today. My last visit was 3 weeks ago. Since then the scales have only dropped 2 pounds, but acording to her machine, I lost 5 pounds of fat and gained 3 pounds of muscle. I am happy with that.

My lapband doc is also going to do my Tummy Tuck and thigh lift. She looked at all my loose skin and we began making plans. She said that she doens't want me to focus on a weight, but on body fat. When I am 25% body fat then I will have the surgery. I am so pumped. With her doing it I will be able to have it done locally and save a lot d/t me being an employee at the hospital!! I am looking at the end of the year!!

Ok, You've probably figured out by now that I am pretty obsessive. I like to call it driven. Well, I was so frstrated with myself about my run this morning. I decided I would start the run over after supper. So... I repeated week 6 day 2 this evening. I completed it!! It was soooo hard. Harder than the 20 minute run. Probably because I have allready done my exercise video for today and I had allready done about 2/3 of day 2 this morning. Anyhow, I started at the beginning and went through the whole thing. I was very proud at the end of it, but man am I tired. Goodnight all!!

Renewed - You are so determined.

Leslie - How are you and the little one?

Where is Whosya?

Well we dropped our son off at church camp today. He will be there until Saturday. I can't stand it when he is gone, so I chose to work this week to keep me busy. I am a Elementary/Middle School Librarian. So, I will have to get my lapbandtalk fix in the evenings.

My leg is feeling better tonight. I get to wear my lovely hose for another week. Yuck... I hope to be able to run on Wednesday morning.

Hi all,

I'm new to this site - but this thread caught my eye as I am doing this c25k program myself. I just did week 4 day 2 -- kicked my butt! I didn't do the second 3 minute run but did the 2nd 5 minute!

My problem is that my left calf gets crampy when I run - any suggestions? Today's a rest day for me - I'll do either weights or the elliptical if I go to the gym today. I may skip today and go to a post op meeting at another program.

I am still preop - have 100 lbs to lose and will meet the surgeon in a month. My surgery should probably be in October I'm hoping.

Welcome Serenity. It is so impressive that you are doing this preop. I am not sure I would have had the drive to attack it then. You should be very proud!! Not sure what to tell you about the calves. Be sure you give your body plenty of fuel (food) for your run. That is all I can think of. When I don't eat enough good carbs I have a REALLY hard time with my runs.

I haven't posted in awhile, so here is my update.

I am still on vacation in Florida. All of the kids and grandkids left Sunday. My husband flew down last night. He hasnt seen me for 10 day and there is diffently a difference in my appearance. (Lap Band was 3 weeks ago) I have lost about 20 total and lots of inches. I have bones!!!! So I met him at the airport with a beautiful tan and thinner me! When I saw the expression on his face when he saw me; it was worth absolutely every bit of this process. We had an exciting reunion. (I know I have a new way of thing, because during what I would call our "sex-capades"; I thought: I wonder how many calories I am burning. - That is wrong and funny!

OK, so on to my exciting exercising new. I spoke to my doctor by phone and she cleared me to run! So, yesterday morning I tried it out. I started with week 2 day 1. But I did it on the treadmill; I ususally run outside. I think it is harder on a treadmill. The time goes faster outside. Anyway, I did it. Running is easier 20 pounds lighter, but harder on a treadmill and 3 weeks pot op. I think it takes awhile to get that energy level back up after anesthesia.

I feel great this morning; no pain in my legs or belly.

I did have three glasses of wine last night and regret the calories. But other than that - it was a perfect day.

My scales seem stuck on 181. I want to be in the 170's by the end of the week. (I know - stop drinking wine) I think I will hit the ecliptical (spelling) today and run week two day two tomorrow.

I still have some problems with shin splints when I first start runnin - it ususally works its way out - any suggestions?

Serenity~ Welcome! Sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the good work!

Leslie~ Hope you and your kiddo are feeling better.

Renewed~ Can't wait until you get your PS!! How exciting!! You are mighty driven aren't you? LOL. Good job on the run!!

Sugarbean~ Glad your leg is feeling better. Hope you are able to run soon. Good luck!

Lyn~ Congrats on your clearance to run! That's awesome! I couldn't even imagine myself running 3 weeks after my surgery. Glad you are doing well and good luck with the running!

Well, I am going to have to forfeit my runs, at least a few days. My ankle is bothering me much more today than it was yesterday. My knee does really well during the day and starts getting stiff and sore at night. I'll continue doing the RICE for a few days and see if it helps. I'm gonna miss doing my run today, but I think I need the days off to recooperate. I guess if they are not better in a few days, I need to go to the doctor.

Hi Everyone, and welcome Tootie and Serenity! BTW, Serenity is a wonderful name (my daughter's middle name LOL).

I had a great day yesterday. We went to the beach with our friends and Jesse was actually swimming! It has been a long haul trying to teach him to swim, but he did it. Our friends have a daughter who's the same age as him, and the two adore each other... so he just copied everything she was doing, including swimming. Sarah, my little fearless wonder, is also learning to swim all on her own. She just jumps in and wiggles around. If she could always find her footing in the Water, we'd be fine!

We then stayed late at our friends and drove home around 10pm, but the trip turned horrible just as we got close to home. We were driving down the street and another car crossed the intersection in front of us. I slammed right into them, totalling their car and damaging ours quite a bit. Good news is no one was really hurt, and it was their fault so their insurance will cover all damages. Bad news is I am sooo stiff and sore. Once the cops cleared us to leave, my DH took dropped me off at the hospital to get checked out, then he had to take the kids home. The docs said I was ok... but they had to put me in a neck brace and strap me to a spinal board until they could confirm. So here I was for 3 hours, strapped to this board, not being able to move, having to pee!!! and my next door neighbour in the emerg was a drugged up crazy guy muttering and moaning the whole time!!! Not my most fun experience.

Finally, they said it was all muscle pain and I was good to go home. I didn't get home until 4am, but then had to get up early with the kids... grrrr. Now we are off to the collission reporting centre and the repair shop. So much for my day of rest and prep work for my interview!!!

Good news is the doc said I could run, but to listen to my body and stop if it was too much. So later tonight I'm giving week 4 a try.

Everyone, good luck today. I'll catch up with your posts later!

Kathy - I'm relieved to hear that ya'll are okay. Don't push yourself too early. Get plenty of rest. You will probably be more sore today and tomorrow (I was after I was in a bad accident in college).

DD is much better today. After being sick yesterday and last night (got bad last night), I can't eat very much today. I think I'm swollen from throwing up. I'm so scared that I've caused myself problems and hoping not to have a slip. I've put myself on liquids today and mushies tomorrow. Well see by Thursday if I can tolerate more. I'm still queasy today and am giving myself a workout break. I'm going to run tomorrow (Week 2 - Day 1) and try to finish out on Sunday morning.

serentity - when i run, i get cramps as well in my calfs; trainer suggestion - add a half banana or whole one (depending on how much you can eat) before you run. that along with stretching afterwards seems to do the trick. good luck to you!!!

whosya, I will definately need some advice on where to go from here. 180 pounds in 12 months is AMAZING!!!!! I had to look at your numbers to make sure you hadn't made a typo. I am VERY impressed.

I am hoping to lose 25 more pounds before my bandiversary on October 24. I was beginning to think that was highly unlikely. After seeing what you've lost it seems much more doable! WAY TO GO!!!! HAPPY BANDIVERSARY!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
