any toronto bandsters-

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was banded at TLBC April 5/07.

I've lost 80 lbs so far, and would like to lose about 20 more.

Best thing I have ever done. Feel free to ask any questions.

Alex

frypan: log onto canadianlapbanders.com website. That is a site that the TLBC and SWLC patients use. Others are of course using it and are welcome. But if you want to learn about the support groups that is the place. Good luck on your journey.

frypan,

the whole process is a breeze....It takes some getting use to and so far I have no regrets. I was banded by DR Yau May 1 08 and have lost 21lbs. Getting started and going through the "healing" stage takes time but after that the lbs start to come off. A side from the occasional PBing I can't complain.

Feel free to ask any questions.

frypan what is worrying you. If you are specific, maybe we can help ease those concerns or at least direct you back to your clinic. I personally was scared. But not the operation, but the fact I would never eat my favorite foods, that I couldn't live on a cup of food a day, my hair would fall out, afraid of failure even with the band, and the long term future of the band. Even when I climbed on the op table, my heart jumped with fear of the unknown, but when I woke up, I was all smiles and I am still all smiles. I have had issues about communication, finding another fill doctor but my love the the band has never wavered. I lose .79 lbs per week and to me that is a huge victory. Please let us know what is bothering you maybe we can help put the concerns to rest.

Frypan. I would suggest to you that you can eat anything you like except not a lot of it. A recent study has indicated that individuals that track their food accurately every day lose weight.

I use www.fitday.com every meal and snack. I won't be neglectful by omitting foods because the only person I hurt is myself.

I even factor in a bit of ice cream and potato chips. By knowing what I am consuming I know when to tread softly when it comes to what I eat that day. Try it you may surprise yourself.

I was banded on July 25th at TLBC. I've been off work this week, and though I've been up and about around the house from the get go, I'm hoping returning to work will be okay on Tuesday. How much time did you guys take off after being banded?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
