Feels as if I don't have the band any longer

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I had a fill in January. I was only able to eat a few bites of food and then i would have to throw up because of the pain. I also could not get fluids down either. I kept thinking that It would get better as the weeks went by but it didn't. I finally went to see the doctor and they discovered that i had alot of mucus from my allergies was filling my pouch and restricting the amount of food that I could eat. They took me from 3.2 cc down to 2cc. I now feel no restriction at all. I seem to be able to eat just like before I had the surgery. I am really having to watch what I eat and am afraid that I will gain all of my weight back. Has this happed to anyone else. Should I be overly concerned.

I have also started to use the bodybugg to help me watch what I am doing.

Maybe your comfort zone is somewhere between the 3.2 and 2 cc.. Remember though that as you lose weight on the outside you lose it on the inside as well. So as your body shrinks so does your stomach and when that happens the band gets loose and you need another adjustment maybe that is what happened? I doubt seriously that your band slipped as someone suggested only because I think that would be extremely painful for tear the stitches around the stomach wall that the band is attached to.

The advice that both of you gave to me was helpful and reassuring. It has been along time since I was at 2cc. I am going to have to go back to watching what I eat. I am at a different place than when I was at 2cc and 50 pounds heavier. Everyday is a learning experience with the lap band. I look forward to this new phase.

I have been through a lot of fills and unfills with my band over the course of 2 years, probably 20. You may want to go to 2.5 or 2.7.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
