First Time Out to Eat - Have to Share!!!

Recommended Posts

Okay, so there was a going-away party after work today. It was supposed to be everyone buys there own at this bar, but when I get there it turns out to be a sit-down type thing and one of the bosses has ordered hor deurves (however you spell it) for all the tables. It was kinda hard to see the nachos and calamari - I kept staring at it, drooling inside, but knowing that I wouldn't have any no matter what. (oh yeah, just got banded June 9th). So, I ordered a glass of wine, drank only 3/4 of it and sipped REALLY slow. Also ordered a CUP, NOT A BOWL (woo hoo!) of Tomato bisque Soup, gave away the scrumptous looking cornbread. First thing I have eaten in the mushie stage. Ate really, really slow, enjoyed every bite, and was full! Very proud of myself, I am! Good thing, cuz now I am off to Chicago for the weekend on a business trip. Wish me luck finding lots of Soups and mushies!:cursing:

You're so brave! It took me months before I would go to a restaurant - about 6 months. Soup is one of the best choices for when you go out and you still want to socialize instead of spending time making sure bites are small enough and that you're not eating too fast.

Keep up the good work.

Sue

Good Job, Banded June11. Am In mushy stage. I Went To Grad. On Sat. Sat By Pool When food Was Served, Didn't Want To Look Out Of Place, So I Sat By Family As They Ate. Everything Smelled So Good, But I Just Drank Water, Had My shake Before Coming, Haven't Had Soup Yet. Didn't Think There Was Anything To Try, Typical Party Food, My Husband Has Been Wanting To Go Out For dinner, Not Like I Can Take My Blender And Blend My Food, A Few Days I Can Try Soft Foods, I Guess I Can Try Soup Then. Is There Any Restrictions On The Soup?? Do You Stick To Just 1/4 Cup??? Thanks

I had my surgery on the 6th and I am on regular food now, just adding a little at a time and I can eat anything. I am tracking my food on the reaize band website. I have eaten out a couple of times, mostly at Shoney's on the bar. I have a card that allows me to eat for the child's price $3.99! That is great! I have eaten a little of everything and don't have problems as long as I take small bites and chew, chew, chew! I try to stick with balanced meals, eating Protein first. I have not lost any more weight though. :cool2:

I started to exercise more yesterday. Actually rode my bike 5 miles on the Greenbelt trail (paved and level) took about an hour and it felt GREAT!:biggrin2:

I know I will need a fill soon as I want to eat like the past and really have to work! If I stop eating then the fullness begins and I can stop!

Cathy, I didn't 'realize' that you had a realize band too! So do I (June 2nd). What do you think of the Realize website where you keep track of your food and exercise? I like it but really don't have time to fill out all the things they ask. I do have some goals listed and my next appointments and I do enter the food I eat and the exercise I do. But i dont fill out where do I eat or what mood I am in or some of the other little stuff. I also can eat just about everything but am trying to stay on soft foods till my next appt on July 1st. I get a fill then and it cant happen too soon for me! I am losing very slowly now and having a hard time avoiding the sabateurs at work. My boss yesterday gave everyone a huge bag of candy...her way of showing her appreciation for our work??? She needs a band! lolol I managed to not eat the whole bag but I did have a few pieces of peppermint patties. Gave the bag to my skinny son when I got home.

JDRocks226,

Regarding the Soup, I ate creamy type Soups with no chunks. Like cream of broccoli, cream of asparagus, etc. In the airport I had to choose a soup that had some chunks in it and I just pretty much tried to stick to the juice, but would get some soft vegetables on my spoon and would just chew them really well and didn't have any problems. As far as the amount, I probably ate about 1/2 cup each time. Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
