HELP!! I've gotten off track and I need to get back on!!!!

Recommended Posts

Admitting it is the first step, right? I remember how helpful this site was for me when I first started my journey. I am sorry that I left all of you, and forgive me for coming back and asking for help!!

I had my surgery May 31, 2007. All was great. . by September, I had lost 60 lbs. I still had another 70 lbs to lose, but being almost 1/2 way there felt so great! Well, I started to get lazy. I started drinking with my meals, which allowed me to eat more. Now, I have gained back 10 lbs. I have stopped exercising. I'm moving in the wrong direction!!!

I guess I should also mention that I had been having problems with my DH, and we are now, getting a divorce. My decision, and I feel much happier, but I'm still punishing myself for something. I've got to get back on track!! I know that I can do it! I think some words of encouragement will help, and maybe some "don't worry, I've been there" stories!!

Thanks to you all for always being there. . .even when I wasn't!!!

Honey, get back on the band wagon! I can't give you an I've been there story, but hopefully can give you some encouragement.

You've done so great! So you've gained 10 pounds. You know it and you can move on. Just think if you didn't have your band, you may have gained back 40...

You know what you have to do. Walk away from the Water with meals. Get your butt moving. Go walking, if you go to the gym - go.

I'm sorry about your personal problems with your DH. Sometimes things aren't meant to be. Find something that motivates you and jump in! Start taking care of yourself again and believe in yourself. You're so worth it!

I am sorry for your struggles ((Hugs))

You have made your 1st step - yes by admitting to your problems.

I can't give you "don't worry" or "been there stories" but I can understand how you ended up off track.

Now what we need to get you back on track....

You got comfortable after losing the 60 lbs - you were tired of dieting - you had some emotional issues - you returned to your addiction (food)

1st take the word diet out of your vocabulary - replace it with eating healthy... Do you need a fill ?? Go see your doc immediately if you do - discuss this with him/her.

Once you have your fill - make the commitment to yourself that you are not going to let your addiction win that you are going to beat this battle of the bulge once and for all. Clean out the pantry & fridge of all the junk foods - throw it away (if the junks not there you can't eat it) - make up a menu for the week - go shopping and buy only whats on your list.

Get back to exercising and following the banding rules (no drinking with meals:smile:) This is a lifetime lifestyle change and once you reconsider this then it will help you... I know that I can never go back to my old eating habits cuz if I do I will regain all my weight - even with the band.

Go back to posting on you May 07 thread - talk to the others there - they and the rest of us will help you. I find that LBT has become my transfer addiction - It keeps me honest - I post everyday - It's my accountability

Pull up those boot straps and move forward - you can do this.:smile2:.

You've only gained back ten pounds? In my experience, that's success! I think back to all the times I wish I'd stopped at gaining back 10 pounds, and gotten back on the band wagon. When you wait until you've gained back 100 pounds, you look back and cry over just how easy it would have been to lose that 10 pounds and get back on track!

I know you can do this and it sounds like you really are ready. Come back to the club!

OK... you messed up.. now it's time to make a change.

My nutritionist told me that if I didn't make unwise food choices.. I was lying!!! I even told her about the box of candy I ate .. and then there was the half bag of Hershey Kisses that I covered with crunchy Peanut Butter.

My emotions .. and my lack of being able to control them caused me to become fat in the first place. I can't say that my emotions are under control yet.. but my food issues are under control.

Huggs, dear one... Now.. get back on the track and make wise choices. Right now.. that is the ONLY thing you can control.

I hear you. I can tell you that I am there right now myself. I keep reading the boards. And today I decided to put the tennis shoes on and go to the track. I turned back to food as a comfort. All I can say for myself is that I was very uncomfortable at the size 8. I didn't know who that person was. It all happened so fast. Now at a size 12 I'm ready to go back down. Baby steps, baby steps.

We can do this together!!! I'm an April 2007 bandster.

Jeanie

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
