Looking for other San Diegains...

Recommended Posts

I am hoping to be banded in August some time :rolleyes2:and was just looking for anyone else in the San Diego :seeya:area who is on the same path as me!! I am using Dr. G. Mueller who I like very much, he seems to know what he is doing. And he laughs at my jokes, so thats always a plus.

Anyway if you are up for a chat about all things lapband in San Diego, please let me know.!!:biggrin2:

I am hoping to get insurance approval very soon & get my band in July (I am seeing Dr Bhoyrul & REALLY like him). How far along are you in the process?

Lets keep in touch!

Hey Ali! I have a preop appt on Monday with my PCP for bloodwork and chest xray, etc. Then I think all I have to do is have a psych exam and I should be good to go. I could actually get the band at the end of July if everything works out, but who knows...

I have researched this for a long time so now I am just really impatient and want to get the band and move on. You know what I mean?

Hi Lizzy:

I get banded in two weeks and am just starting my two week liquid diet today. I'm with Dr. Horgan and my understanding is that different practices have different requirements, but feel free to ask me any questions you wish.

Best of luck and we look forward to watching you progress.

Susan,

What a great gift for Independance Day!! Your lapband!! I am excited for you...so what you are on day 2 of the liquid diet...how is it going are you hungry?

Actually physically it hasn't been too bad - I haven't even consumed all the Protein shakes and other liquids I'm allowed to either day. The head hunger is a bit worse - it's a very strict diet and I'm dying for a crunchy starch or a nice piece of solid Protein. :biggrin2: But I am determined to get through it without falling off the wagon as failure after banding could undo all pain of surgery.

I did have something that really helped. Monday I went in for a bunch of tests including a barium swallow. I wasn't allowed to eat until 2 that afternoon (since 8 the night before) and the barium was very unsettling to my tummy so I ended up eating very little that day. The next day I didn't eat until 1 and had a light lunch of sushi. For dinner I did have a bean/cheese/rice burrito as it might be my last ever, but for the day I was still well under my calorie allowance. I think this helped to shrink my stomach a little and has made the process easier. You may want to see if you can put off the barium until right before the liquid diet as it might kill your appetite too.

I am very glad I don't go crazy on my last day of "freedom" and eat everything in sight. I think it would have been a lot harder to not eat the next day.

Trust me, the time passes very quickly and you soon will be shrinking your liver too! Keep us posted about the process. Where are you now?

Hi There!

I am in San Diego too! I have had one consult with Dr Bhoyrul and I go back for the second next week. Just had my psych consult. I hope to get approved after this next week and possibly shoot for a band date the end of July or early August. So far so good!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
