Did I or did I not have surgery?????

Recommended Posts

well I figured if I took really small pea sized bites and chewed the dickens out of it I would OK and I was. I only ate about 1/3 of the steak cause I got tired of chewing. But boy was it good. but just because I can eat doesn't mean I do. My philosphy is that a body can exist on much less than what we are used to eating. I survived just fine while on Clear Liquids. So I am watching my caloric intake but I also subscribe to the carb addicts diet by Dr. Rachel Heller. So far I am down 40 lbs since surgery and do not want to gain it back.

Weren't you just banded on April 20th? Wow are you supposed to be eating steak yet? Just curious?

I don't think the point is that you CAN eat it, but SHOULD you be eating it? This time is sooooooo very crucial to proper healing. I hope you are following your doctors orders.

I am literally following doctors orders. Each doctor is different on how they instruct their patients. Some patients heal faster than others. Believe me, I didn't wake up and decided I want steak and ate it. There has been a steady progression of the foods I eat and as each is tolerated then I am free to try something different. The Doc said If I should have any problems to go back on liquids for a day or so. So far no problems and it's all good. I will in no way try bread products and hopefully will never have another piece of bread in my life. Soda? No way. Speaking as someone who used to drink 3-4 20oz mountain dews a day, everyday, I do not ever want to have another soda in my life. regular or diet. I mean I do but I don't. To me a soda is a gateway drug to everything else that is bad for me. All of this is mute anyway as I will have my fill the first week in june and am actually looking forward to the restriction. How ironic. When I couln't eat and felt restricted I hated it. Now that I am open I hate it too.

I don't think the point is that you CAN eat it, but SHOULD you be eating it? This time is sooooooo very crucial to proper healing. I hope you are following your doctors orders.

I have the big boy band too. I am at 3cc and am still kinda loose. I think that 4cc will do it, but after I had it done it was like I never had it at all.

I havent had much restriction of course.. hehe but here I am 4 days before a fill and I kinda do feel like I'm making big mistakes but I know its only gonna be possible now, not later.

Mistakes being ooo hot fudge sundae from mcdonalds.. nothing else just the hot fudge sundae. Or.. my latest kick is nachos from taco bell. I guess I just miss the "ability" to go and pigout at these places so I do it ever so often.

LoL.. i mean i know its normal to be able to eat, ive been able to eat anything Ive tried since day one. Ive followed my doctors orders too.. he said 2 weeks liquids / mushies then told me at 3-4 weeks i can experiment with solids.. so i have. So far the only thing that ive had is a little heartburn or something every time i drink cold Water. gahhhhh but i love cold Water. I miss being able to chug a bottle of water 4-5 times a day. Sipping is just not my thing... sighs. im getting used to it though. when i get my little heartburn thing (not sure what it is) i just chew a gas x and poof its gone. The only food ive had problems with so far is bread.. but i think it was mostly in my head. I havent had any other problems with anything.. chicken, eggs, anything really.

i do eat A LOT less.. and i find myself paranoid like spitting my food into a napkin when i dont think i can get it small enough. Its kinda sick.. but it works and plus that just is less calories =P

Protein,.. sucks. i cant seem to get enough in but im getting better itll get much better once i go home (still in california) and am back on a schedule.

I still dont feel much restriction a month out. BUT I cant eat anything I want. I can test my band, but it does bite back. For a few weeks I was wondering if it really was there so I tested it. Trust me, its there. I freak out from time to time thinking I can eat WAY more than the 2 ounces they claim the bands max capacity is..then I realize that I still cant eat anywhere near what I could pre-band..and it will only get better as you get filled.

My partner went to a doctor 3 weeks out and made them take an xray of her band because she honestly believed there was no band there. Restriction was gained after a few fills. 2 years later and shes lost 130 pounds with 3 fills total.

Just hang in there.

i had 2 pieces of birthday cake.. normal sized... that was after i had half of the fishermans platter at the aquarium.... and sushi that afternoon too...the whole lunch portion. (hey it was my birthday.... i dont eat like that everyday.. although i have been living on cake ever since)

i am sure there is something in there....there must be a band.. i can feel the damn port... maybe he put it around my kidney instead of my stomach.... cuz peeing more is about the only difference i notice.

fill on the 17th!

well happy birthday Dallasdoll. Everyone deserves a treat on their birthday. My new nickname is Reebok by my friends. They are under the impression my port is a valve with a push button like on the reebok shoes. How funny. Probably a good thing it isn't or else I would be deflated all the time.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
