Hi Shelly -

I've had 3 fills, and am currently at 2.1. Although I am much more restricted than wide open, and tighter in the mornings, I am still able to eat a "healthy" amount of food. Yesterday at lunch I had a big slice of large pizza (ate all but the bit of crust at the wide end), plus all the topping off another large slice, and the doughy part underneath, leaving only the very outside part of the crust. A very sad looking wedge when I was done. Then I had about a cup of cottage cheese with tomatoes and basil, and wouldn't have minded trying the toppings from another piece of pizza, but held myself back... lol

I was basically done eating for the day, though, even though I did not feel totally stuffed. For dinner I had a huge serving of SF/FF chocolate ice cream with reduced fat Peanut Butter.

Guys, be glad you don't have these hormonal rages!!! lol

I am still able to eat a whole sandwich, but that's pretty much it.

Anyway, probably needless to say, I'll be going in for another fill soon.... :) I'm planning on 10/4, and want to be super restricted this time, where liquids trickle through.

Bear in mind with fills, though, that it is important EMOTIONALLY (as well as physically) to go in gradual stages so you have a chance to adjust to your new intake. I have only PB'd three times since being banded, and all three of those were within the third week after my first fill.

Also, the amount of the fill in your band is not comparable to anyone else's - it all has to do with how restricted YOU feel. 2.1 would totally close some people off.

Hi

I've had 3 fills with 3. per fill the last one only a couple of hours ago.

Am drinking Water right now but wow I can feel the restriction. Am a bit worried about eating later - hope it's not too tight, really want to start and lose some serious weight.

:)

thanks donali!

i want to be restricted to where 1/2 cup is literally my stopping point! do you ever get FULL? my dr said the sweet spot i am going for is like 2-3 days post op when 1 pudding felt like a feast!!! i scheduled my 2nd fill for 10-2 hopefully i will get some good restriction.

i am a little paranoid because the scale has started moving up:eek: :) i am starting high protien low carbs officially today!!!! that should help me. i did under 20 carbs (adtkins) all summer and since surgery have been loading up on carbs... i think my body is saying PICK A EATING HABIT AND STICK WITH IT!!!! so bye bye carbs!!! + some more fill= LOOSER!!!!

I DO get full. On vacation in August, I was feeling very restricted. One time at lunch I couldn't even finish a bowl of chicken noodle soup! I ate very little for those two weeks, and was very satisfied.

But, the resulting weightloss invariably means a slightly looser band, so back I go for another adjustment!

Thank goodness for the adjustability part of the AGB... lol

bev-

does your dr put you on liquids after a fill?

i have to do

2-3 days liquid

2-3 days mushies

2-3 days soft food

and then reg food.

they do it so you can get adjusted to new fill. i'd be souping it tonite!!!

Donali-

so glad i will get the full feeling! thats how i know im loose. i dont get full i just quite eating. i want to feel FULL! i havent pb'd either and i have been able to eat bread & steak. i savoured the steak knowing that i can kiss it goodbye after i am at the sweet spot. i have heard some can eat it but judging on how hard it is to chew it up to the right cosistancy i cant see myself eating it.

hi shelleyj

at the moment feel that Soup is the only thing i'll be able to manage for the rest of my life - lol!!!!!!!!!!!

dr's here don't really give you much information at all - got a feeling they're in the learning stage too.

Water is trickling down slowly - god, hope i lose some weight now.

will definitely try and follow your advice on mushies etc, thanks for that.

Bev,

It looks to me like you're losing weight really quickly! Your stats are very impressive. I hope my numbers look as good as yours when I finally get banded.

My first fill was .6 back in June, then .5 more in August, and .5 more last week. That last .5 really helped me (for the past week anyway) be able to eat just 1/2 a cup of food and really feel full. And finally the scales started moving again. I've lost 5.5 pounds in the past week! If I don't keep this feeling of restriction over time, I'm going back in for another fill. This is what I needed!

Hi Becky

Stats are from when i first started losing weight so 35lbs were lost before I was banded. To date only managed 14 but hopefully that will all change with this last fill, which at the moment feels really tight and makes me feel really good.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
