HELP!! Vomiting after fill

Recommended Posts

I had my third fill yesterday. I could swallow liquids ok after the fill. Within 2-3 hours, I began having severe heartburn with reflux coming up into my throat. By nighttime, I was vomiting what I guess is stomach bile. Not to sound gross but it looks just like hot Mountain Dew. This has went on all night and day, every few hours. I normally take Nexium anyway and I have added acid reducers today also. I called my Dr. and he was puzzled. I can swallow fine, I just can't keep it down due to all the acid and vomiting it back up. Has this ever happened to any of you??

You may have some swelling due to the fill. Or you simply might just be filled too tight.

If you can't get liquids down, you probably need to have some of your fill removed.

sounds like you're too tight. or that it slipped after the fill...I dunno only way to know is to get an appt. It sounds like you are throwing up stomach acid and stuff like that though. I hope things get better. Keep us updated.

Sherry:

I've only had to have one partial unfill and it was because of the symptoms you have. I'm surprised your doctor didn't recommend you come in for a partial unfil.

I hope you feel better soon.

Please keep us posted.

Take care.

Sue

I can swallow and the liquids go down fine. But then, a little while later all this acid comes rushing up into my throat and I start vomiting it up. So, I don't think I'm too tight or I wouldn't be able to swallow would I?

If you're not able to hold fluids down, this would concern me. I believe that I would be calling my doc to arrange for an unfill.

Are you taking small sips?

I was told to call the doc immediately if there was any heartburn or reflux!

Please remember that the doctors are working for us. We "hired" them to take care of us. (I am not saying this in an arrogant way.) Call today!

Hello famrika :P

Yes, my new birth date was 7/26/04 :-) - I'm getting ready to Celebrate my 4 year bandiversary.

I haven't had my band checked for about a year and a half now. I was seeing a local doc about every 6 months to have my labs checked, but after a while, the doc said that I really didn't need to come back unless I developed problems.

I eat fairly normal. I don't eat a whole lot of anything though. I think it's normal, but other's that don't know I have the band don't think it's normal;). I don't eat a lot of breads anymore. I've totally cut out diet cokes and it's rare that I have a cup of coffee. pizza, diet cokes and coffee were a large part of my "diet" pre-band. The funny thing is, I don't miss any of it!

I weighed almost 300 pounds when I was banded and now weigh 155. I'm 5'10 and wear a size 8. Needless to say, life has been very good for me with the Lapband.

I don't ever gain any weight. Occassionally, I'll lose a pound or two, but for the most part, I've maintained my weight for over 2 years now.

Feel free to private message me if you have any more questions. I'll be happy to help if I can.

Tricia

Sue, you had the same symptoms? How long till you had a partial unfill? I am 2 hours away and it is the weekend...

The day I called my surgeon's office they squeezed me in. They don't want anybody to wait it out when we're having difficulty with our bands.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Sue

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
