Liquid Diet weight loss

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I start my liquid diet on the 16th and I am supposed to do it for 2 weeks before surgery. I am to have a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch. I can have a 4-6oz piece of lean baked meat with veggies for dinner. My question is...who else has had this type of diet and how much weight was lost during your 2 week diet? Just curious.

I was on a three week liq diet and lost 21 lbs. I also had broncitis (spelled wrong oops) for two weeks and could not exercise. the diet was not bad at all. Now I am on 2 Protein Drinks for breakfast and lunch and a high Protein dinner (chicken and veggies is what I eat)

Best of luck and be strong!

I am on the liver shrinking diet which sounds just like the liquid diet -- my nutritionist told me the purpose of it is to get your liver to strink so that it is not in the way during surgery. She said it makes surgery safer. She said the liver actually will shrink instead of being a fatty liver and being in the way -- I hope I just made since.

I started 6/1, same diet as you described. I totally messed up last weekend (birthday) but have lost 10 pounds.

Good luck! Day three was the hardest, I was very sick from carb withdrawal I think but now I feel fantastic and have more energy but sleep better.

Thanks for the replies. I feel like right now I'm in last supper mode, but I'm trying to be good and not put back on any weight that I have already lost!

I think you will lose a decent amount of weight probably about the same you have lost or a little less possibly a little more. Good luck!!!

Good luck to you!

When is your surgery? I hope the whole 2 week thing goes pretty quick. Good luck to you, too. :frown:

Hi everyone! I started the Optifast preop diet on June 6 and have lost 12 lbs as of today. The main thing I learned is get that crap in a blender with a sweet and low and some ice.. the vanilla is gross but add vanilla extract and some nutmeg with ice and yummy.. I haven't come up with a great strawberry one yet any ideas?? i tried orange extract but it was yucky.. the chocolate with a sweet and low and ice blended is my favorite so far.. good luck to all... I am getting banded on June 20th wooo hoo:tt1:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
