I was banded last Thurs. June 5th, so today is day 5 for me. I was feeling great, very little pain. However today I feel like I took a step backwards. I feel so weak, dizzy and light headed. Also much discomfort in my back between my shoulder blades. Anyone else have this?

I am wondering if the whooziness is from lack of solid food, been on liquids and Clear Liquids at that since 2 days before surgery. I'm getting adequate Protein in from the GNC Protein Shots, a min. of 42 gms a day. My surgeons office said I could add one serving of either refried Beans, pudding, yogurt or eggs tonight and see how that goes. I do have a post op appt. tomorrow at the dr. office, but thought I'd check here and see if this normal first. Thanks for any input.

I felt the same way really great a few days after surgery and then I started to get pains in my shoulder blades and back. Aches that no rubbing or massaging helped. I asked my doctor and he said its phantom pain caused by air inside your stomach cavity pushing on a nerve there. He told me to get out and walk and eventually the pain went away in a few days. I hear this is really common. I hope this helps.

Long2BThin,

I am 5 days out as well. My shoulder and back pain is not worse today, but I definitely feel tired. Have been doing really well, I just lost my energy today. My post op followup is tromorrow as well. I am on clear fluids until Friday - then I can have full liquid. I am hoping that will help my energy. Good Luck. I am envious that your surgeon said you could have some refried Beans or eggs! Sounds so good!

Hi there; I was also banded June 5 and mainly feel port pain, earlier gas and bloating; now tightness to take deep breath in heart area. Had acupuncture and massage and daily walks to move the energy; making very nutritious Soups (cheated with a couple nibbles but not too bad); don't really feel hungry but would love to chew and crunch on something - like nuts maybe or cheese....Sufina from Portland (formerly Vegas 20 years)

Thanks so much for the answers!! I was really getting concerned. I never had any of the gas pains from the gas they pump in during surgery. That very well could be it. It's better tonight. And oh those scrambled eggs tasted so good!! I only ate about an ounce. I got a funny feeling like I needed to belch really bad and thought I better stop now. And soon it went away. I also found out the funny feeling in my mouth is Thrush. I got an RX for that today and mouth is feeling better and drinking is a little easier. Tomorrow I have my post op and will feel better when all checks out fine. I really appreciate the input!!

I had surgery on 3/31/08 on a Monday and on Thursday I started having problems with dizziness and lightheadedness. I was on clear liquids 2 days before surgery and 10 days after. I'm now two months out and I've finally in the last two weeks gotten over the dizziness and lightheaded feeling I had since surgery. My PCP took blood tests to see if I had low blood sugar, etc., but nothing was wrong. I have had problems with vertigo in the past so maybe that had something to do with it. But I think once you start eating normally (real food) things get better. Good luck.

Well I found out the reason for my 'whoozieness'! Today I was home when it happened and I took my blood pressure, it was 80/50!!! My pulse was 46. I promptly called my surgeons office and they referred me to my primary care to ask about dropping my blood pressure meds some. THEY TOOK ME OFF OF THEM!!!! ONE WEEK POST OP AND I AM ALREADY GOING OFF B/P MEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am thrilled with that. Of course, I have to monitor it closely at home to be sure it doesn't spike back up, but she said that was way way too low. And if it does go up, I may need a weaker RX!!! I was hoping to get off them eventually but never dreamt at one week!!!!!!!!!

That's wonderful news! Sorry that you had to be uncomfortable and worry, but that is a fantastic reason for lightheadedness:thumbup: Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
