I have no support and no-one to talk to: Surgery 18th June

Recommended Posts

My pannus is completely gone. It was about 3 to 4 inches thick and hung down to where my pubic area was. It was totally worth it.

Thanks. I may go in in 6 months and have a revison however. He left about 2" of fat on my upper abs he didn't get with the lippo so we'll see. He told me if he was too agressive it can actually kill the skin. The Tummy Tuck took like 3-4 hours. Because I had so much fat he had to carterize the blood vessels when he opened me up.

Hi Kizzie, good luck with your upcoming surgery. I was one of the lucky ones, only in pain when I first woke up from the op but after that did really well. No gas, just painful around the port area when getting up and down. I am from Sydney, Australia (almost NZ ) and was banded in November last year. I wouldn't call myself a success story yet (more a work in progress :crying:). I have lost 16kgs (35lbs). Still searching for that elusive "sweet spot". This board is a great place to come for some inspiration. It's always open no matter what time of the day or night. Is there a support group locally that you can go to? That could be a great help as well. Good luck and keep us posted on how you go.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
