How much was your 1st fill

Recommended Posts

I'm curious what some people get as their first fill. How many CC's. I know that different bands are different sizes so that must be taken into account. I am just 3 weeks out and my doctor is one that waits at least 6 weeks and checks if you are till losing weight. If you are then the fill gets pushed back. I forgot to ask what goes into the band and what stays in the port tubing on a first fill. I would think the tubing holds fluild too. Again I'm just curious and woud lke to get an idea of the different ranges that doctors use. I have a realize band. Thanks for any information.

$389.00 to Fill Centers USA and $200.00 to the doc for the fluroscopy. So all total $589.00

After the first the price goes down to like half the cost.

I really didn't think of cost but good to know I was wondering more on how much of a fill did each person get.

I got my first fill yesterday with the Realize band and it was 3cc's. I feel great and have not had any problems. My surgery was 4/28/08.

I have a 10cc band and the first fill I got was 3 cc's but I couldn't swallow Water so he took out .5. By the way, after 3 days I had no restriction whatever which continued to happen until I got up to 6.5. Now I am at that level and I am able to eat the "band way". All the best to you!

Regards,

Alfie

My fills were completely covered by my insurance for the first year...guess I am one of the lucky ones (even though I haven't found great resctriction as of yet).

I was banded on April 8th and got my 1st fill on 05/24 of 1.5cc's in a 4 cc band. I currently have no restriction, so I have already scheduled my 2nd fill for June 21st. I was banded in Mexico, and my Dr. makes his patients wait at least 4 weeks between fills.

Hi Sue,

Congrats on your decision to get the lap band!

I had my first fill of 2 cc's during my port adjustment/revision surgery, which was about a little more than 2 months after I had the original lapband surgery. My doctor gave me another 2 cc's in his office two weeks later, then 1 more cc about a week ago. I have a 14 cc capacity band, with 5 cc's in it so far. I feel that I could use another fill, but I am just going to wait it out and see what the weight loss results are when I go for a followup appointment in 3 weeks.

I got a starter fill during surgery of 3cc's and then my first fill was 2cc's... I have the 10cc band. My second and third fills each gave me 1cc... there is saline in the tube also. My center explained it to me, the way they count that too.

Oops, I just realized you were asking how much saline instead of how much the fill costs. My original surgeon injected 1.5 cc's of saline my first fill and my band is a 4 cc capacity.

I got my first fill of 3 ccs when the band was implanted. That was three months ago. I haven't needed another.

I have a 14cc band and my surgeon put in 5ccs at my first fill. I don't think I'm as restricted as some people on this site describe. I've never PBd or gotten stuck. But I'm not hungry after eating a Lean Cuisine and I'm losing 1-2+ pounds a week, so I'm happy with that.

Surgery on 3-14-08, 1st fill of .2ccs on 4-24-08, and 2nd fill of 1.2 ccs on 5-24-08. I am hardly hungry during the day. Around 5:00 I get hungry. After eating, I am full easily and stay full for hours and hours. I have lost 41 pounds since 3-14, so I think I am okay at this pace. I have a fill scheduled for 6-25, but thinking about cancelling and waiting a little longer.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
