Banded to get married!

Recommended Posts

I'm so sorry to hear that you had to be subjected to that.

Granted I don't know her or her family. But what a sad thing that this woman can only measure happiness and worthiness in the fact that someone is married. As though she/you/any other woman can't be happy/successful unless she's married.

Congratulations to you that you realize your happiness is so much more than being a part of a relationship. Keep your head up high. I know I'm behind you !

I have had comments from my grandparents similar to this... but luckily it hasn't truly been mentioned.. while being smaller can be more attractive, that was not the plan... I want to be healthy, and I want kids whether there is a man involved or not (I am extremely open to adoption and foster care). I love children. I also chose this surgery to make my life easier, like wiping my butt without pulling a muscle from reaching around, or not worrying about breaking someones furniture, fitting in seatbelts or on rides at the amusement park... not having to buy two seats at the airport because the seatbelt doesn't fit... being able to fit comfortably in a bathroom stall... to be able to shop for clothing and not wonder what people are thinking... To wear clothes that look professional rather than just because they fit... at my highest I wore mens shirts... because that all that fit that was comfortable. I think everyone can agree its not just to find a partner...

Thanks for this thread...

sorry that she said that. i'd have told her just you wait. there will always be people that say that this is easy and that we're still lazy but I just can't wait to prove them all wrong!

Isn't it funny how people can be so ignorant. I mean it definetly is not funny but it just shows how most people have no idea that having this surgery is not to fit in to the "norm" but ultimately to feel better about our selfs and be healthier.

It is always those who have never struggled with their weight that say the meanest things. They see it as their way of kicking us in the butt and "helping us". Meanwhile they do the total opposite.

The one thing I always hate is "you have such a pretty face. Just wait till you have your surgery."

What the hell is wrong with the rest of me?????:confused2:

I mean we all know we are overweight, all for different reasons but do we need others to explain our inadequacies?

When situations like this occur I just tell myself, I can lose all my weight, but these people will always be ugly ....maybe not on the outside but defintely the inside.

Don't worry hun you are bettering yourself , brush off the criticism. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Good luck:thumbup:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
