This Week's Mini Goal

Recommended Posts

I need some accountability on this so I thought maybe we could have a thread for mini goals. I know Friday is a weird day to start a weekly goal but since mine is weight related and I weigh on Friday.....you get the picture. Please feel free to add any short term goals you have to this. Let's see what kind of fun we can have. It doesn't have to be weight related though I think many of ours will be. It could be excercise, removing a food from your diet, eating healthier, getting off a pill, fitting into a new piece of clothing. Come on, let's see what we can do!

Mine is to lose 4 pounds between today and my doctor's appointment on Tuesday morning.

Something I've learned when it comes to losing that extra weight and getting healthy is that -- there is never a better time to start than NOW! So many times I would say, oh, I'll start doing this or that on Monday. Funny how it would be on the Wednesday or Thursday before. That was a good four or five days wasted!

Anyway, this is a great idea! So let me see, what can I do?

Ok, starting today I have a goal of being able to actually wear this pair of size 18's Misses from Wal-Mart (made small of course ). I can button and zip up, but they are still a bit too tight around the thighs for me to comfortably wear. I am maybe a good week away from being able to fit them nicely if I work very hard at it. So I say I can wear them out by next weekend.

Go me! And as always, I wish you all the very best!!

Hehe- Lady Ezma. Was funny to hear you say that hear. Ezma is the name of my character on my online games. One of them is based on Camelot so I was called Lady Ezma a lot there. :biggrin2:

My mini goal isn't for this week, but for this month. By the end of June, I want to be down (at least) 11 more lbs for a total of 75 lbs lost. I've been on a plateau for the last couple of weeks but I finally broke it and lost 2 lbs in the last 3 days. Hopefully it keeps going down, down, down.

Great topic.

Actually I have three mini goals for this week:

1. Move the scales downwards - see signature line for reason for that one!

2. To do one bodypump workout and one bodycombat workout as I am not playing netball at the moment.

3. I will try not to eat so many nuts!

Mixing up the exercise might be the key to breaking this plateau.

Good luck to everyone!

Yes, peek, I'm going to toss out those darned salted macadamias in my pantry! funny how I always choose those over the raw almonds.

I'm getting an award next Wednesday at work, and I have been dying to fit into this little (size 18 - little for me) dress. It now zips, but is a little snug. I'm just dying to fit into it by next Wednesday. And...as a back up plan, if I can't wear it then, then I'm aiming for July 4th.

Wishing you all good luck on your short term goals. So....GOOD LUCK guys!

I didn't make my last one but I was off on my calculation. I only ended up 1 pound short. My new goal is to stay sane and not spend too much before my revision.

I am going to Detroit to see my family next weekend. This have been playing with the same 3 lbs for the last week. My goal is to exersise and lose 3 lbs by next Saturday when I leave.

Also, my DH works for Nike, and he bought me a pair of capris that I wanted. They are way too tight. They are an XL, but in misses, so the cut is different. My goal is to be in those capris by the end of July.

Good luck everyone!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
