Anyone in england...?

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Im looking for a band buddy, would be great if you are in england but its not essential. I feel you dont need to be in the same country as another to get support. A lil about me, im 25 (26 nxt month), female, 392lbs, 5'10 and in london, uk. I have over 200lbs to loose, and am currently doing my own pre-op diet, getting ready to be banded around sept time. If you feel you could help out a fellow "to be" bandster, just drop me a pm.

Thanks xxxx

I have been banded for 18th months and was told after my fourth fill that my band was now full and I couldn't have any further fills. So I have been 'on my own' since last July and sadly have stuck at the same weight since then. However over the past couple of weeks I seem to have gained around 9/10 lbs which is really worrying. I am going to make a real effort to 'listen' to my band and stop eating when it tells me to rather than the silly habit I have got into of stopping - waiting for that food to digest and then finishing off my meal. I am going to stop and throw away whatever is left and see what happens. If my weight doesnt start moving in the right direction I am going to find a new fill doctor and see what he says.

I have lost about 30 lbs from my highest weight but still need to lose about 30 lbs. I am in the North of England

Again, not sure I'm much of a mentor - but happy to have a chat!

got banded in September 07 and have spent a lot of time this year getting my head straight ie I have been losing and gaining the same 11 pounds over and over again...

Think my head is back on track now, so to get my body in shape too.

hey thanks for replying!

I having the band is easier said than done, ive said that half of this weight loss journal is a mental thing aswell. Because just because you have teh band, it doesnt give you a brain transplant so to say lol You still need to learn how to change ur eating patterns etc etc

But it good to chat!

Do you have msn?

Ha ha! A Brain transplant may have been more useful in many respects!

No - not on msn, but would LOVE to chat here! So nice to have someone to talk to! Family etc are very loving, but all are stick thin and can't understand what it feels like.

What was your biggest food problem? Mine was/is chocolate! I can simply eat tons of the stuff. The band makes you have to do the hard work still though doesn't it - as from what I can see - chocolate still goes down the easiest, apart from ice cream!

how r u finding everything, as you r a newbie right?

lol lol Would it be great if they tweaked part of your brain that says that you will never eat any bad food again wouldnt it be great :)

I know what you mean, about the family aspect....its like they will never really 100% understand what its like to have a weight issue. Ive kept in on the hush..and not told others about it.

My biggest food problem is just food!!:lol: I wouldnt say that it was one food...when i used to go on my binges it used to be the lot...for sweet stuff...donuts, choc, sweets, cakes, biscuits...but i also loved my savory...like CRISPS!! The times i finsihed of a multi pack to myself in one go i dont care to admit lol lol

im still quite new the the world of bandits ....but the i was hungry on day 5/6 and had to start the mushies stage early...because i couldnt cope sipping on Soup and youghurt any more lol

I will be 3 weeks post op on monday, but im finding that i can eat more and more, so i think i need to get that first fill booked up!

Im a lil scared because i can eat everything without any problems, bread, chicken, Pasta, rice, veggies etc i know its because i dont have any Fluid in my band....but when i do get i fill i still wanna be able to eat the above! Nobody can deny me my carbs... lol lol

Hiya

You will lose weight at this stage, so try to maximise it by sticking to low calorie food and keeping the fat low too. it will help when you get to the stage when you get tightened, and need to eat less. It seems the weight you lose in the early stages stays off - so I hope that's encouraging for you.

How have you managed not to tell family? I haven't told anyone except family and one v close friend. Seems you have to justify what you're doing everytime you talk about it - look at poor Fern Britton!

When do you get a fill and do you have to go back abroad?

I will take your advice on...will have to try get some more veggie and things like that down...and less of the carbs...i think i need to take a look at my gastric band rule book again. Because ive been doing the opposite and not eating the Protein first.

lol i manages not to tell family quite easily lol...i think its like you said...i dont need that extra pressure of everyone watching wat im eating, or trying to jusify my self to them. I only told my sister. I may tell other later, but i will decide when the time comes. I felt so sorry for fern...everyone just giving her a hard time. At teh end of teh day she still lost the weight, she still had to excercise and eat teh right things. I think peeps should just leave her be.

All of my aftercare is done in london, its just the op that is done in belguim. I am going to book in for a fill on monday....teh next appoint isnt till oct...so will still have to wait a lil while.

I am SO happy - I lost just under 2.5 lbs this weekend alone! I was super careful on Saturday, as I wanted to go to the cinema, and so ate v little, and yesterday the scale had jumped!!

I had my op and my fills here - the care before and during the op was really good - but they need to sort out the aftercare big time! I was asked to see a dietician who just talked about me eating custard ALL the time, as i think it was the only soft food she could think of, so i gave up seeing her after one appointment. I've had to teach myself a lot about food and nutrition - I would highly recommend using something like fat secret or nutracheck too.

I think the thing to remember is that often your hunger is not from your body - but from your head. I find myself thinking "wow, I'm starving" but if I really think about it - I'm not - I just want to eat for the hell of it. Weird huh? I;m sure there's a load of psychological explanations for that - but the trick is to recognise and not do it - I think anyway!

Tell me more about how its going with you - happy to listen/advise/sympathise etc!

Well done on the loss! Thats great!! Wat film did you go and see?

I think you are right about the afrercare, its really crucial. and as for being on custard solely.....did that woman really qualify as a dietician?? lol

While i was saving up for my op i took it as a chance to really research everything...im so thankful that i did it, because i know it will be of use to me.

I know what you mean about the head hunger....sometimes is just out of habbit that you go to eat something, but u really need to ask....am i really hungry??? and the majority of the time, its a no!

this week i havent lost anything..AGAIN! but i am gratefull not to put on weight, but im just getting frustrated. This morning i was all ready to to book a fill, but im gonna wait a couple of weeks and see how i do. Found out on the weekend, that banana dont go down very well, so will be keeping away from those! Im still new to all this....so im just taking it one day at a time :rolleyes2:

hiya!

i went to see the Duchess - cos that's what every fat chick needs to see - Keira Unsightly looking like a pin! It was quite good though, although my husband looked like he wanted to die halfway through!!

Funny about the banana, I find them really easy, and slip one into my cheerios to try and get in one my 5-a-day portions of fruit a day.

Have you been recording what you eat? i think that helps loads - although it can be boring too!

I ahvent been recording what i eat, i did it for teh first two weeks, and it was really pissing me off...so i decided to stop..! lol It was like everything that touched my lips...opps betta go find pen and paper...and teh weeks i did log everything i still didnt lose weight...so i though ahhh whats the point! I was really good, kept to 1200 a day if not slighly less...but ohh well..

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
