Hey Neenornina...jump on in! We love "new blood". Tell us about yourself....how you are doing with your band...any struggles? Your ticker shows you have had quite a big weightloss. Congrats and welcome

 Hi Apples and thanks very much x

I had my band in 2008 and started at 350 lbs (which for someone 5'2" is rather chunky right?)

I have had plenty of stalls that were self inflicted through comfort eating and just this week , decided to have another real push forward if I can, to gather some momentum together for the remainder I have to lose.

I have stopped calorie counting this week as I feel it's time to focus on being normal around food and learning to cope with stress in a better way.

I am always eager to help swap good ideas, the forum I am on in the UK is bypass orientated and quite anti band....you can imagine how happy I was to find this place!

It's banding heaven for me!

Ninornia....Sounds like you will have a lot of experience to share with others on this site. Good going on recommitting to your plan. Hope you feel at home on LapBandTalk. Always nice to be able to visit back and forth with people that truly understand the experience. Having people who understand and care can be such a great support system. I know it has been the case for me.

Good morning! Thanks for the bar recipe, I always need Desserts to bring places and since I am not much of a dessert eater, never know what to bring, so will try these sometime. They won't be a temptation for me either.

Nothing planned for today other than pack and take the doggies to be boarded. I got so much done yesterday. I checked the weather for Maine and it looks beautiful it even said 0% chance of precipitation so that sounds good to me! DD is going to join us there as well and use her first flying benefits of her job.

I am waiting for an electrician to come as we discovered our doorbell doesn't work. So might as well get all that stuff fixed while the home is still under warranty, but who knows how many solicitors I've missed. So maybe it's been a blessing in disguise. LOL

Welcome Ninorina, congrats on your success thus far!

Laura, Listen to Pooh. LOL I hate good byes too. Can you go see your folks for part of this time as a distraction? I suppose it's hard now with Nels in school.

Aw that's brilliant thanks!

Call me Neen if you like xxx

And hello and thank you Great2bThin also x

I have quite a lot of saline in my band but still get the urge to eat too much...a lot of comfort eating as I said.,..major sweet tooth as well which is difficult to wrangle in with a band as choc and ice cream go down a treat and always have!!!

I picked up a tip this week from my landlady who said her Aunt had lost a lot of weight and placated her sweet tooth by eating tuna every time she felt a craving....for anything!

So this is the 4th day of the tuna plan...basically I have a bowl of drained tuna (packed in spring Water or brine only) with vinegar and a bit of black pepper , laying in wait in my fridge.

It has worked great so far and I have had PMS all week til today.

I have just grabbed the tuna and eaten a load til I feel full (about 3 or 4 forkfuls max) every time I have wanted to eat unnessesary food....like when I am making my kids packed lunches or dinners and in the evening whilst watching TV.

It has been great and it stopped my sugar craving so I hope that is going to be a bit of a life saver in future!

Neen....good plan with the tuna instead of grabbin sweets. Once you get rid of the sugar cravings, it might make it easier for you to stay on plan. Sugars are EVIL. Replacing them with a Protein is a great idea. When you feel you have your cravings in check and you want something sweet, grab a more natural form of sugar..fruits.

Stay here for suppport and also to share your experiences of how you lost so much weight so far.

Good morning gang! Welcome Neen! Well, I did not go to my mother's for her birthday. We are going to Breakfast on Saturday morning. Peeps, I could hardly move this morning. As I clean house the soreness is easing up. I think I will do Water aerobics tonight.

Okay,

breakfast-protein bar.....coffee with pro joe for cream.

lunch.....homemade vegetable Soup and a few saltines

CBL

Arlene...good girl on keeping on moving even though you are stiff. Veggie soup sounds yummy...but...where's the Protein?????? And, (just cuz I love ya) ditch the saltines. 5 crackers have no Fiber and 11 carbs. Not worth that little mouthful of salt. LOL

Arlene, I was just going to say 'back away from the saltines' but Apples beat me to it. Heck, Janet, took Joyce's saltines away from her at dinner in Vegas. LOL I agree, you need Protein in that Soup.

Well I now have a doorbell, seems some wires were crossed.

I am busy googling lobster shacks in Maine. DH asked if I was going to have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I looked at him like are you crazy, Of course I am. LOL Well maybe not breakfast. LOL Easy on the butter will be the hard part. I love butter, it's the main reason I don't do much popcorn or even bits of potato as I want too much butter on it. Think it's the Wisconsin coming out in me, growing up in the dairy state. We buttered our hotdog and hamburger Buns, heck my mom buttered the bread before making a PB & J sandwich even.

Oh good...someone to blame for the butter and cheese glutony that us MN's picked up. Wisconsin's fault!

When dipping that lobster, notice how fast that little cup of butter disappears. You think it is just a little coating but it saturates it. Throw a shaker of Molly McButter in your purse. I know....tacky when it comes to lobster. It might help you though.

Have to add this, Great...you are living my dream. Maine/Vermont during the fall. OK...proposal for you. Let's take two weeks and switch lives. You be the drearly old farm wife and I will travel with your DH. Promise I won't touch him inappropriately or look at him naked.

Only problem with that is that it's my DH that would be jealous of me being on the farm. So let's just ditch the guys, I'll send DH to the farm to help your DH and we can travel. DH is actually jealous of his brother who is taking a week's vacation to go back to SD to work on the farm for a week and help with the harvest.

As for my lobster butter, I am pretty good when I get lobster or crab and dip it in the butter, my cup is usually still at least 3/4 full. I just need a taste of it.

Well, I say enjoy the buttered treat. We all have to have our little indulgences. I would trade a snack just to enjoy it...so worth it if you enjoy it.

I think youngest DS has a bit of jeolousy when it comes to older DS being employed on the farm and running the other ag business. He has no desire to farm...just thinks maybe more $$$ advantages for brother. Nope...he earns every penny. One day and he would quit or get fired. Not lazy...just no interest. I've often wished I would just get fired.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
