Arlene....does your pain ever subside????? You sound miserable.

Apples, it comes and goes......like a dull headache. I am sure I will find a solution to this problem. I am hoping it is temporary. I am only thankful I have lost weight or I would be in a world of hurt.

apples~ so glad you are ok. imagine back when you were heavy... a fall like that would have really hurt. please be careful. Do what I do, walk around naked. LOL... at least I don't trip on flannel jammies. oh, wait, it's cold there?! Yep. I would freeze.

Hi to everyone~ I read the posts but am braindead this morning. DH was on call and that blankety blank blank beeper went off every 30 min the little bit of time he was home. And he was only home from 1230-2 then to hosp and then 430-515. I can only imagine how he feels b/c I feel tired, partied out and hungover! (and I didn't drink..LOL)

Taking Nels to the mall to ride some train and then to the new 3D Grinch movie with his best friend Nicholas. Not sure Nels will handle it, it looks a little scary. I need to give DH a little break.

will cbl... peas

Good Morning Gang

Back from the gym - met a gf there - did my 4 miles - even did an incline of 24 - burned 560 calories - I love this new treadmill.

Apples - becare full - we sure don't want an obit.. I did the same thing going up the stairs last week at work - I was running up them - sandel caught went down and hit my knee - thankfully nothing more than a brusie.

Well, I need to get moving - I need to take computer in to get fixed (I'm glad I have this laptop - but I like my computer better - mostly I hate the finger mouse - but like that I am sitting on the patio instead of being in the house - it's a beautiful day here - suppose to be 82ish..

I will cbl - i really need to get going

Good afternoon! Just got home from walking around a craft show. Really enjoyed it but glad I took the cane with me because by the end I was really leaning on it. That was my biggest outing to date as far as the amount of walking I did, but I did great. We saw a lady selling hand carved Santas there and got to talking to her. We used to be in the shows selling those as well. DH kindda got the desire to do a few again. In the past when we had our craft business it was an income to allow me to be a stay at home mom. This time he's thinking it would be 'blow money' and he has lots of things he wants to blow it on! LOL We need to decide by Feb as that is when you have to apply for many of the fall shows.

Apples, Happy anniversary!! We celebrated 30 yrs this year too! 1979 was a good year!

Congrats on your band! I won't be at the nutrition class on Wed. I am not back to my volunteering yet since my knee surgery. Hopefully in a few weeks.

Are you getting a fill already? That's fast? I had to wait 6 weeks to get my first fill. Amanda is really nice though.

Phyl & Janet, have a wonderful time shopping. I am so jealous a new Coach purse! I was to the Coach outlet last night actually. I got a 20% off coupon in my email. It's good til the 15th, I can forward it to you if you are going to an outlet if you like and want to pm me your email address. The 20% off was off the sale and clearance prices too. I got my daughter one for Christmas.

Congrats Coconut....you might be a wee bit sore for a few days...that port site is a little irksome sometimes, but you'll do fine. Good luck!!

Apples, congrats on the anniversary. You and Lori with 30 years...it truly is an amazing thing these days. I'll agree with Lori, 1979 was a good year. Hope you both aren't too tired to enjoy your day.

1979 was the year I moved to Tucson and it changed my life. I've never regretted that decision.

Went shopping with my sister, she needs a new oven since her's doesn't bake, it only broils. She found one and it will be delivered Wednesday. I cut and cleaned a pumpkin and am baking it instead of boiling it for a future pumpkin pie. And I have enchiladas in the oven...made with fat free greek yogurt and low fat sour cream. That's about all for today...the cat and I took a nap.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Aww...that's so nice of you to say, Balletgirl...I'm just an ordinary person who counts on my LB friends for support. I will take the compliment though LOL. :wink2:

Hey All...just a quick post b/4 my head hits the pillow. I am sure I will be out quickly. Was at the apt. by 7am and worked until 8pm. A lot accomplished for today.

Both DH and I were too tired to go out for anniversary dinner. We decided to do it Tues night (actual anniversary). BTW...thanks for all of the congrats on that.

Eva...did a job bring to you AZ or a spouse? Must like the weather to still be there 30 yrs later.

Coconuts...happy to hear your surgery is behind you and you are at home. Make sure to take care, follow your doc's orders and jump on this thread with questions you may have or just to visit a bit. We tend to take care of our newbies and get them hooked on this thread. A lot of support provided here.

Phyll and Janet...Oh I envy you...a LB sista shopping trip...have a great time. You deserve that Coach Phyll. Have never even seen one. Just a hillbilly hayseed here.

Julie...not not a bit stiff from my fall. I lucked out on that one. I NEVER get stiff anymore. And to think, I was ALWAYS stiff and sore EVERYWHERE when I was obese. There is not an ache or pain in my body ever. Lucky. I think a lot of it is I stay pretty limber because I am extremely active.

Great...good going on getting out and shopping with your cane. Hope things just get continually better for you. And, I think we talked about Sat. on TG weekend. Watertown would work best for me but can travel further if Aberdeen is better for you. Just let me know. The only thing that would prevent us meeting would be terrible roads but we can talk closer to the time. I am super excited about meeting you.

Laura...I sleep naked and just run around the house in the morning in those flannel pants. DS is here early (catching momma naked would ruin him for life) and it's cold here so not running naked in the house.

Good night, dear friends. My book is calling me. Most likely will not be on tomorrow. Have 955 sets of salt and pepper shakers to begin wrapping and packing. Whoohoo!

Apples, Sounds like a productive day. Make sure you are taking care of you and don't neglect your health and rest. Gotta keep you on the go, you know! I thought it was Sat. we were planning on so I have told DH to keep that day open. He'll probably come with me if that is okay as I am a whimp when it comes to driving long distances in an area I don't know.

I found the neatest sweatshirt jacket for my Grandma for Christmas at the craft show today. Some lady made them out of regular sweatshirts, she cut them down the front middle and added a border and fancy buttons and also a quilted pocket. It looks so like something she wears I couldn't resist. I'm anxious to give it to her but will have to be patient and wait til Christmas. I actually got the majority of my major gifts boughten so am happy about that. I like being done early and then just relaxing and enjoying the holiday season.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
