Welcome back Jill!!! Please don't disappear again! Congrats on the smaller clothes and bathing suit! I see the suits out in the stores already (Target had them anyway). I couldn't believe they were out already, but I am actually looking forward to trying one on this year and buying a smaller size. I also have a pool in my community that I have not been to in the past 2 summers I have lived here as I was too embarrassed. I can't wait to go this year. As for the cough, I've heard that can be a sign of reflux and being too tight, but I am not sure. Is it worse at night after lying down?

Well, gotta go to Texas Children's Hospital. My 12yr old granddaughter has diabetes and went into keytone acidosis. Not sure if I am spelling that right. I think the holiday's got her off her diet and routine. She is better. It must be so hard for children to stay away from sugar especially during the holidays.

I hope your granddaughter will be back to 100% soon. They had to keep checking me for that when I was pregnant.

Well girls, as I just finished dinner, I have come to the conclusion that I just plain out right eat too fast still. I really need to work on this because this I am sure is one of the reasons why I still eat way too much for a bandster. Any words of advice on how to correct this would be greatly appreciated. I am really trying to get these 15# off so I can make an appt with my surgeon for a fill when my income tax comes in so he doesn't sit there and ridicule me about my weight loss. I just don't know what the heck I can do.

Thanks for listening to me, you would think that getting banded back in April of 08, I would know this by now.

Gail,

Small plate, small fork, put your fork down between bites. Buy one of those little shrimp forks. I need to get one, too! I have one at home but not in our RV & we're in it for the winter. I know I eat too fast, too & bites are too big. So I'm talking to ME, too!

Hi to all,

This board is great. Thanks to Phyllser for recommending it on the 60+ board. I really, really need support. I am losing, but I am not being very good. The band keeps me from eating certain foods and not a lot, but some of my choices are not good. What is a good site to start logging my foods and exercise? If I don't write them down, I can easily ignore what I eat. The peanut M&M jar has been bad for me during the holidays. I can ignore the Cookies and cake because they don't go down good, but the M&Ms do fine. I will move them or freeze them today!!!

I do want to keep up with this board. I want this to work!!!

WOW! I don't know how anyone can resist the bad foods that are in your house! THROW IT AWAY - GIVE IT AWAY - GET IT AWAY FROM YOU!!! My heart goes out to you who have families that still want these foods around, but they have to have some understanding... this is like being an alcoholic with a bottle of booze sitting on your counter! The hardest thing about being addicted to food is the fact that you cannot simply stop eating. Those cravings will always be with you - there are ways to compensate, but you should not have to deal with this kind of temptation in your home. If you are keeping these items for yourself - please - just throw them away. It really is not as hard as it sounds - and it is very liberating. Stock up with Snacks you can allow for yourself (as Janet recommends - the SF puddings, SF fudgecicles, etc.) - be creative and come up with your own substitutes. When the cravings hit, you will be surprised at how helpful this can be. Please be kind to yourself and get rid of the things that tempt you...

Carolyn,

I use Sparkpeople.com and find it very easy to use. There is also dailyplate.com that some use too. Good luck with which ever one you choose to do.

Great job..... I use sparkpeople.com too and love it there. Not to many groups about people living with lap bands, that is why I am here..

Thanks Phyll, I will definitely have to start using my toddlers dishes and forks. I will see if that helps.

Hi to all (today is Sunday Jan 4). Glad to hear everyone had a safe holiday. I haven't been getting any email alerts for this thread. Jill, glad to hear from you. You will loose the weight even if it is slow. It is hard to loose and its hard for all of us. We all struggle with ups and downs of this weight thing. Saw your bros house, boy it was something. My gks loved it of course. They live out there also. Long, I am going to change my eating habits around again to see if that works. Usually every morning after coffee, I have an unjury shake with skim milk for B. Today I had a scrambled egg and two slices of bacon. Boy, did that make a difference. It is almost 2:00 pm and I am still not hungry. Janet, I do think I need to get hard Protein in and just cut up real small and chew, chew, chew. I hadn't been able to get alot of it down but I think maybe I need to make teeny bites. When I go out to dinner , everyone else is done and I am trying to get my food in. If I order orderves then my sister doesn't want to order a dinner so I order a dinner also and can't eat it. Fri night I asked for a lunch size dinner which was one grilled chicken breast and instead of potato and vegetable I got double order of vegetable. Took alot home but I did get the meat down. I just have to slow down. Also, I have kind of layed off walking and that is definitely a no no. Thats prob why I haven't lost any for couple of weeks. Gotta get back in the game. Well I will talk to you all later. Going to make stuffed peppers for dinner tonight.

Oh yeah! Polish Pottery is a little pricey for me also. I currently have fiesta ware and I love it. JoanMarie, I don't why but I always wonder about you. Are you doing okay since you had surgery. I didn't know you quilted. I wish I could learn how to do that. I love quilts. I have them on all my beds and all of my kids have them also. They are so warm and soft to sleep under. Well thats it for now.

Hi Becky - I'm doing well. Not a lot of restriction, but I can definitely feel a difference. I am supposed to have my first fill on Friday. I am keeping with the plan - Protein first, then vegies, etc., and manage very well. I am not hungry in the morning - I wait a while after coffee then have a scrambled egg and small piece of ham. I always do better with at least a little Breakfast.

I love to quilt - have been at it for many years. I took a class from a small shop in Champaign when we lived there in the late 70's and ended up teaching there. I knew right away I had found my creative spirit. I do some traditional quilts these days, but love art quilts and have been dabbling more in that area lately. My advice to you - take a class at a quilt shop! If you love quilts, you will enjoy it - they have the newest tools and the best quality fabrics - and usually have very dedicated teachers. Check out the shops in Springfield - I have not looked lately, but I bet you have several. Check all of them for the style of fabrics you like and people you enjoy talking to - and sign up for a class this winter or spring. Remember - when you are quilting you are not eating...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
