Hey, Janet, I may not go on the Hawaiian cruise in April. I signed my husband up for a seminar given by Dr. Garth Davis. He is considering WLS. I am so excited. I would give up any vacation for a healthy husband. He has had both knees replaced and has a neuro stimulator implant for back pain. He gains and loses at least 60lbs every two years. All that yo-yo dieting has taken a toll.

I am going to get another fill on the 20th. I WILL reach my sweet spot soon.

Happy Birthday to all you gals.:) Phyl, I wish I could go play slots with you. I started playing them on my iphone and blew out the speakers.....had to get a new phone. When I play the real slots I kinda lose control. I guess it is good I live in Texas where there are none.

Charlene how great is that - your dh considering surgery - I think that's so cool - Yep you need a healthy dh - there is always next yr..

I am not much a gambler - especially around here the casino is about 2 miles from my house - I like to play but in Vegas or Laughlin not so much here...

Thanks Janet,

I was scheduled to be banded on the 19th by Top Surgeons in Beverly Hills. I just found out that the Dr. scheduled to do my surgery is not Board Certified and has only done a few Lap Bands ever. He has only done surgeries under his supervisor's instruction and has only been trained since July! I found out that the two owners of Top surgeons have had their medical license revoked or are on probation for malpractice! Needless to say, I am NOT going through with the surgery and am in the process of looking for a new Dr.

I am excited to meet Dr. Billy in Ventura next week, but I still am a little sad about missing out on surgery this week.:tt2:. But I do thank God that I found this stuff out before I went through with the surgery. This website is awesome. The lapband community is small and everyone seems to know so much and thanks to this website, I saved myself a huge headache and future complications.

Heck Teach I am glad that you found out about this prior to surgery.... So I guess you found out from here that these guys just jumped on the gravy train and really dom't care about their patients..

I hope you dr billy works out...

HI!!! Sorry I haven't been around, but I'm going to go and catch up on all the posts I haven't read. Hope everyone is doing well. I finally hit 52 pounds. I've been the same weight, going up and down 3 pounds, for so long that I had almost given up hope of ever seeing the scale move. Tomorrow I have my second fill. I'm nervous and excited, both.

I'll be back soon.

Love,

Ellen

I am excited to meet Dr. Billy in Ventura next week .

Hi!!! Just wanted to introduce myself and tell you that I've heard great things about Dr. Billy. In fact, I am meeting a fellow lapbander for coffee on Thursday, who had him do her surgery. She was very happy, both with him and with his office. I'll find out more for you and let you know what else she has to say.

Sorry that the surgery you were about to have didn't work out, but I think fate had better things in store for you. How lucky to find out about this doctor BEFORE you went any further.

Good luck.

Ellen

For some reason I am not getting the emails notifying me of new posts. I thought that odd and didn't think everyone could have been that quiet that long so am glad I came and checked!

Ellen, good to see you back posting. Good luck with your fill tomorrow. I hope it gets you to a good place in the band.

I had my visit with my dr. today. We opted for me not to get a fill since I have another appt in 3 weeks and am going to the middle of no where on vacation next week. He said I was doing great and wanted me to know the 'awesomeness' of my progress and did some math. He figured out the percentage of excess body weight I have lost and I am 2% better than the 1 yr average at only 5 months. However, he wants me to get in another mini meal of Protein in a day and up my Water intake as my protein and water were a little low. He ordered some labs and if I go get the blood drawn in the next day or so they should have the results at my next appt.

I then met my son for lunch and a shopping trip at Walmart. He works there and employees usually don't get their discount on groceries but they are for the holidays. He helped me get some groceries for Thanksgiving and Christmas so that was nice of him. Every little bit helps.

Tonight we are going to dinner to our favorite Mexican place, they are having $2 burritos. They are so good, I just eat the innards of half of one these days though.

Oh I almost forgot, I might have a job. It's part, part time (only 2 1/2 hours a day). I will work M-F 6am to 830a at the rec center in my neighborhood. I will have no excuse to not exercise before I leave for home! That's the other thing my dr told me I needed to do was up my exercise. He didn't take my excuse of hating to sweat as valid. Imagine that!! I do work out but need to workout more intensely. I fill out the papers for the job tomorrow, it sounds like it is all but mine. At first I wasn't going to do it as it was so few hours, but it's something. Every little bit helps. I can put the money in my goal wardrobe fund!! Or my Vegas fund if we go there.

I quit the email notification - as it just clogged up my email - I just ck my usercp to see if anyone has posted to the threads that I post on..

Congrats on your Dr appointment - Yes you are doing fantastic... I loved the part about him not accepting the excuse of hating to sweat.. Too Funny..

Fingers crossed on the job - heck you could end up running the place...

That's great of your son - I am cooking turkey - but it will be like 5 max - so I will be getting a little bird - I am not a big turkey eater anyway - I always liked the stuffing and mash potatoes - like turkey sandwiches - so I guess I will get some lite bread to make some..

Janet, thanks for the good wishes. I would LOVE to be as lucky as you. I would love to do half as well as you or be half as on target as you!!!!! This week I actually feel "into" this journey, though, and I must admit it feels great!

Lori, glad to be back. You are doing so amazingly well. CONGRATULATIONS! It sounds like your doctor is really your partner in your weight loss. I need to keep coming here and looking at progress like yours for inspiration when I get "down in the dumps." Good luck with the job. You are really moving forward.

Well, I have to run. I'm babysitting for my grandson, but I'll try to get back here soon.

Love,

Ellen

Hey there Lucky - Welcome to our little group - it's a great group even if I do say so myself:tongue:

Maybe the chick just had a very bad weekend (not that should really make a difference but heck maybe he dh left her or something terrible) - I can't beleive that she was so rude and yes I would be pissed too... I would give it 3 days then call and be your sweet self and then when you get approved and meet with the surgeon I would let him know what happend...

Well, I'm happy to report that Miss Mean & Nasty called me today. While I did not receive an apology for her rudeness, I did receive a status report...I'M SUBMITTED FOR INSURANCE APPROVAL!

She also very matter-of-factly informed me that she would be calling the insurance company (Anthem BC) tomorrow to confirm that they had received the paperwork, and that she would call again on Friday to confirm that it was being reviewed. She also stated that she would call me back to let me know what the results of her phone calls to the insurance company were.

So while she's not exactly warm & fuzzy, she does seem to have a plan of attack that I can get on board with! :(

Hi to all tonight (Tuesday). I guess my posting have gone to cyberspace cause I don't see them on here anywhere. Anyways, Happy birthday to the November girls. I like the slots also. Whenever I go for a fill, we go to the boat. Two months in a row I won 500 bucks which was nice. Janet, I can't believe you can't wear Chicos. I have gone into that store with my sister forever and all I could buy was accessories. Now I am just finally getting into some of their clothes and I am thrilled. You are really small!. I keep buying stuff from everywhere, waiting two or three weeks and then returning it because I know it won't fit me later. I really want the clothes but I know its not the right time now. Well I went to Dr today and got .05cc fill. The last fill finally gave me restriction so I think this one could be the one or close. Anyway, glad I got it before Thanksgiving. Glad to hear everyone is going along okay.

That's great news - I have Anthem BC too PPO had no problems - got approved in like 3 days once they had my shrink report... My bmi was like 42 with sleep apnea and high blood pressure... I didn't have to do a 6 month preop diet either..

Keep us posted...

Janet, I'm so excited to meet with you. Just let me know the time and place. When did you say you were coming?

PJ - I am thinking maybe President weekend (Feb)- not sure yet - she is going on a cruise in January - I am going on one in March - so it's Feb or April - Heck I want sooner due to - tommorow not being promissed - I haven't seen her in like 5 yrs... She's my only living relative on my Dad's side - well I have 2 cousins who are like 20 yrs older than me and I only met once when I was a year old - so I don't really know them.. But this is my Dad's Sis the only one left - just like me..

So How close are you... I can't say I know the area - I have been there twice - once I stay in a Marriottl down the road and then last time I stayed at her place not with her but at Trinity Towers they have rooms for guest..

Tops fit Mediums - but the pants were on the baggy side - you know what I mean they fit loose but by the end of the day they would be to baggy - I wear my pant not skin tight but not baggy.. I'm a solid 4 in pants..

I am glad you aren't buying too much now - cuz each month you are going to go down a size - I did spend too much on clothes that I ended up wearing a short short time and then giving away..

Hope that .05 puts you at your sweet spot...

Well off to watch some tv and eat...

I will talk to you all tomorrow

Hugs Janet

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
