Cant eat banded 19 May

Recommended Posts

Ok, taken it to the experts. I have the problem we all dream of. I do not want to eat and feel great. The problem is I am only eating about 300 calories a day. This has been for a week now. I do not feel hungry and have to force myself to eat three times and day and can only manage to get down about 100 cal at a time. It does not hurt, I do not feel sick, But I worry it is not enough and each day I keep thinking I will be able to eat a little more, but nope cant. Any idea what is a safe calorie range. I lost 20 pounds this week but I know a lot of us do the first week after the surgery. Thanks

When you you banded and what types of food are you eating? I am still on Clear Liquids being only 8 days post op. And I too, can only take in about 300 calories and worry about losing too fast. (I am down 27 pounds in 11 days.) 'Something I prayed for and boom, here it is! LOL I think if we keep up the daily Protein levels and if we don't feel weak, we are okay. I take in about 50 grams of protein a day, and find that clear Isopure and sometimes unflavored Unjury really help. If you are still concerned, call your doc or nutritionist. Best of luck to you.

A happy Fellow Bandster  ChristyC

Hi MeiQa.....same thing happened to me after my band. I think your stomach is still swollen from the surgical procedure. My appetite began to show again with week two or so. make sure to drink your Water (I realize it's an effort right now) so you don't get dehydrated, and enjoy having zero appetite for a little while.

You are not far enough out to take in the amount of calories you are asking you body to take in. About 4 weeks after surgery and when you are just coming off of mushies and back on to solids your worries will be the complete opposite in that you will be able to eat anything not nailed down with little to no difficulty. And you will worry about gaining. Now that I have my first fill I realize I am very lucky I am not sure how much the doctor put in but I can tell you I am one of the lucky ones as I am very restricted (which is odd on the first fill) and long for the days when I could eat. Hang in there you are doing fine!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
