Post-Op List of useful items?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am starting to get organized for my surgery on June 23. There was a list someone had posted, of things to have on hand for post op. I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know where it is? I remember they suggested gas-ex strips and that's where my memory stops! Can anyone help me? Thanks!

The list I remember was a little out of control. Here are my suggestions:

* heating pad (my #1 friend beginning a couple of days post-op)

* liquid pain meds (ask your doc)

* Gas X Strips

* a way to prop yourself up in bed

* a supply of Protein shakes (or whatever you're supposed to eat the first couple of weeks after surgery)

I also found it useful to have 1-2 ounce cups for the first few days because I was restricted to just 1 ounce every hour.

Good luck with your surgery!

I also recommend having:

  • straws
  • can coozy - it takes a long time to drink your Protein Shakes. Having a can cozy will help keep it chilled longer
  • flavored drink packs - i use the single serve Crystal Lite type

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
