Any 9/07 bandsters losing slower?

Recommended Posts

I was banded 9/5/07 and just wanted to know if anyone weight is going down slow? For the last 2 months I haven't lose a pound. I have to admit that I get fustrated and go ahead and it the fried crab cakes just because I haven't lost any weight(Which is the same attitude that got me obese in the first place).I don't eat very much but just don't seem to be losing much. And onw day I'm 181 and the very next day I'm 184. I am always hungry but really can't eat much so unsure if I need a fill. I try to eat fish ,tuna, crabs(boiled), shrimp or crawfish and Beans black, red and white mostly. So don't know why the weight is not moving.I walk 5 days a week most of the time, but know less than 3. So could some one give me some advice ?:rolleyes2:

I was banded on 9/21 and to date have lost 43 pounds. However, I was slightly unfilled around Easter and have not lost much since then. I gained seven or so pounds and struggled to take them off. I am not at 171 one day and 173 the next. I was miserable being so filled, but at times I am a little discouraged when I don't drop the weight as fast. I was a tight 18 and now am a snug 12 or baggy 14. I am running between 2-3.5 miles a day, spinning, and weight training on other days. My mind wants to see fast weightloss results, I have to also see my fabulous muscular legs and toned arms. It's been an interesting journey, good, bad and ugly. Hope you get your rhythm back.

Yes, I am losing slow! But I know it is my fault. I haven't been eating all that great. My problem was I was working my a** off and gained 3 lbs, so then I just got frustrated and have been eating like a non banded person. I know I need a fill & I have one scheduled, so I hope it will help.

But back to you. Have you tried changing your exercise routine? I have heard that your body gets use to your routine and you stop losing (don't know if true, but worth a try). Also, I don't know if you track everything you eat. I know that I may not think I am eating as much, but I really am.

Good luck!

I have lost at total of 44 pounds, banded on Sept 19th. I am losing an average of 4 pounds per month and although I would like to lose faster I know that I am doing it the right way. My mistakes in the past were to lose fast and regain faster and this is why I got the band in the first place. I agree that you should change your exercise routine and listen to your body when it comes to food.< /p>

Hi everyone, Haven't checked in for awhile. I went in today...gained one pound ! My surgeon says no fill for me today! Last month he was in a bad mood and scolded me for coming in two weeks before I was due to come in. But his nurse asked him..and said That I probably needed a fill. This month I was under a lot of stress :wink2: and did not do as well as I should. I feel so discouraged....I am down 47lbs since being banded on Sept 18 2007. Has anyone had a slip? I am so scared !!!!!!!!!!! I don't want to gain any weight. He still only wants me to have around 5-6 baby spoons of food per meal. I sometimes have a 1/2 c per meal. He scolded me  and said he would not give me a fill today...I have had 3 fills totaling 2cc. in a 10cc. band. That does not sound like it is enough. Please share your story with me. I need your support! Thank you for letting me vent! Love to you all, Linda

Linda,

I was banded 09/07/07. I now have 6.5cc's in my band. Why is your doctor being so (tight) on the fills? Does your surgeon have an associate that can give you a fill instead? Even with a small fill, you are doing great.

Hi, I DON'T KNOW WHY HE IS SO TIGHT WITH FILLS! It drives me nuts he says that I am having head hunger! 2cc.in a 10cc band after 7 months does not seem alot to me either. He does not have an associate to do the fills. He also talks so fast that he barely lets me ask any questions! I thought that the patient would know when it time for a fill. I have been working really hard! My first fill was at 5 mths out! So I know how to eat! I am so sad and disappointed! I am constantly made to feel like I am an annoyance to my dr. Thanks for your response! Linda

Linda I have the 4cc band and I currently have 2.5 cc in it. I am going back in on 6/23 for another .5 cc.

You should definitely have more in your band by now.

My weight loss has slowed down in the last 4 months to 2 lbs a month. The scales do not seem to be as friendly as before.

Still I feel very good about what I have accomplished in such a short time.

I have not been at this weight in 20 years. I no longer use a CPAP machine and I have not taken any diabetes medicine in 3 months.

Hi Joe, How much are you eating per meal...I am only supposed to have 5-8 baby spoons per meal plus two shakes a day. I usually have -1/3c to 1/2c per meal. I also don't need my cpap. I exercise 3-6 days a week..and am still recovering from a brokrn L ankle

For Breakfast I have a carnation instant drink with a banana that I put in to a magic bullet blender with milk.

The other two meals is about three ounces of meat and some vegetables and a small amount carbohydrate.

Usually no more than 3/4 to 1 cup of food.

I eat the meat first, then the vegetable and if I have room the carbohydrate.

The attachment is what I use as a guideline.

I also have a snack in the evening either a small bowl of popcorn or yogurt.

Tell your Dr. how you feel. He is just being a control freak. I hate Drs. that make me feel bad. Life is too short. Can you go to a USA fill center? They are wonderful. They call me once a month to see how I am and if I have questions.

Don't feel bad.I only lost 40lbs myself, but my dr. didn't give me a certain amount of food to eat. But i don't understand if you need a fill, why isn't he giving you one? Some of these dr. or so full of sh.. But don't you give up. I get depressed some times too, but i look at it this way--I lost 40 and i only have forty more to go. And I pray that I can do it before my year is up but if I don't I know one thing----it is coming off, even if its sloow!

Hi, well, I been complying, with the rules! My problem now is that I have had a Migraine headache the day after my last appointment. It lasted 3 days! around 8-9 o'clock I also get tummy aches!...but I am doing the baby spoonfuls that my dr. demands. This can't be good. I do not think that my eating 1/2c. per meal puts me in the hog section! I thought the fills for my lapband would not be so hard to get! I forgot to mention that my surgeon said, at last weigh -in, that he is glad that I had not gained more than 1 pound, because he would have me go see a shrink!

I have stopped losing. I have had a stressful couple of years besides the lap band about 18 months ago. I couldn't open your attachment.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
