Finally got my first fill.. woohooo

Recommended Posts

I got my first fill today - 6 weeks, 2 days post surgery. We tried 2 weeks ago, but I had infection and some swelling/scar tissue which made it impossible. Infection is now all gone - scar tissue has settled, so today it was a breeze. Took no time or effort at all - didn't feel a thing.

My surgeon is so great !!

I have lost weight very well - but its been work - I know that it will always take effort and work but hopefully the restriction makes that a little easier. I don't expect the first fill to make a huge (or any) difference to my restriction, but I'm on the right path, and can keep up the effort to maintain my weight loss in the meantime.

Well done on your weight loss so far Luscious. Hopefully you will start to notice some restriction in the next few months, it certainly is wonderful to not be fighting hunger pains all of the time (I have just had my 4th fill and am loving this not hungry feeling)

I travel a lot with my husband and the main thing I am worried about is being able to eat something while we are at dinner so I don't just sit there while he is eating 2 courses like we both usually do. I have 40 lbs to lose so I am going to tell the doctor to make my band loose because I don't care how long it takes me to lose would rather have a more normal diet and it take longer than not be able to eat anything at all during our travels. I have read where some people can eat pretty normally right after surgery and some people can't eat a thing or drink anything - that sounds like the band must be too tight - it is very confusing - I realize people are different so I guess that is why there are so many different experiences.

I also had my first fill today, 4 weeks after banding. Glad that I have had it as I have been really hungry and have not lost any weight in the last 2 weeks.

The procedure was completely painless and the only problem I had was that I felt I was winded when I got up off the couch. Delighted with my lapband and love it to bits.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
