Wow everyone is doing so amazing hitting our first goals! Allison under 200 I can picture you jumping up and down and calling your Mom, she must be so proud of you. And Yvonne and Kiki just keep up the good work!

I myself have lost 5 pounds since my second fill a little over a week ago! I have had some not so pleasant sliming/Pbing (I threw up in the movie theater during Hancock) but I am learning slowly how to work this gift I gave to myself with the support and love of my husband. My first goal was to be under 170 and I may be there by next week. My secret weapon has been a half of a power bar between meals. I'm not hungry between meals anymore so when I do sit down to eat now I am not so starving that I rush and get the dreaded golf ball in the chest pain and I don't eat as much.

I am just not there yet but it is my own fault. I'm not working the band. i haven't had a fill yet. I am scheduled for August 9th. The closest fill center is Moultrie, GA and the nurse is only there once a month. I avoid the scale and i hate diets. Just the thought of a diet has me craving food. Sometimes I get that golf ball in my chest--it makes me realize I do have a lapband in me. What I don't understand is most times I can eat "normal"--too much food and everything is fine. other times if I rush or am anxious, I can eat 2 or 3 bites (usually meat) and have to stop or i will PB, slime, throw up. How is it possible for my pouch to only hold 2 or 3 bites sometimes and other times I can shovel the food in non stop? Also, what will happen with my eating habits after a fill? Will it be like eating those 2 or 3 bites all the time?

fluffycat you are still in what everyone calls bandster hell. You have that band but it isn't doing it's thing yet but every once in a while it reminds you it's there with a little sliming, PBing or the dreaded golf ball in the chest pain. I found with my limited experience that dry, or dense food is what doesn't go done well. chicken just sliced dry makes me get the golf ball thing so I need to spread a bit of non-fat mayo on it.

As for how much you can eat sometimes I can eat more than others but if it's just Protein you WILL still lose weight it's all the other stuff that drags you down. I usually have a kashi cereal(high in protein) for Breakfast because my Doctor knows I hate breakfast and the Cereal is fast and easy. For lunch I will have a cheeseburger no bun and some fruit like watermelon or grapes (have to eat those slow & chew) and for dinner I will have a chicken breast which I cook using different weight watchers recipes to mix it up. Last nigh I had a chicken burrito minus the tortilla. I do eat a high protein power bar between meals to hold off starving then eating too fast at the next meal. Even though I have some restriction I still can't go between meals without something!

Good Luck with that fill!

Congrats!! I hope to catch you!! Actually I want to hit 55 so bad (11 more) as then i will be closer to 200 than 300. Have you found that the further out from surgery you go, the smaller the weekly losses? Or are you still losing consistently the same every week?

Long2B....

The weight loss slowed down, but it is still pretty decent and steady. I started around a pound a day, and now I am down to about 3-5 lbs a week.

Remember that as you lose weight, your body needs fewer calories. You have to adjust your intake to match your new weight.

Thanks, Felicia. That's what I was doing but seem to be slowing down. If you don't mind my asking, how many calories are you consuming? I'm at about 700-900 right now since my fill. I just talked to the nurse at my surgeons office and I may get another fill after the 1st of August. I'm going out of town and wasn't sure I wanted to do it before leaving as I hear flying tightens you up.

BTW, I used to live in Vegas, in Henderson/Green Valley actually. I enjoyed our brief time there.

I lived in Vegas just north of the Henderson line (Silverado Ranch, not far from Green Valley) when I first moved here. Now work and school are north, so I moved. =) I love Vegas. I won't be here long term; I want to get back to California. But, I do enjoy it.

But I digress...

I am taking in about 700 calories a day and feeling great. I am not watching calories so much as I watch what I eat. 700-900 is just where I seem to fall. When I am more active, I take in a little extra and/or adjust the type of caloiries I am consuming so as not to deprive my body of anything it needs.

For example, this weekend I went to Chicago with some girlfriends. I was up around 1100 calories both Saturday and Sunday, but I was also walking a lot more than I do on a daily basis at home - about 8 miles each day in the heat and humidity. When I was swimming all day (4+ hours at a time) in Phoenix a few weeks ago, I was up around 1500 or so for that weekend.

I am also a fairly decent low-carber. I don't eat breads, pastas, or sweets. My carbs come from yogurt, some fresh fruit, and vegetables. I am studying the idea of ketosis and trying to see what I can do with that as well.

All this, and still no restriction. I am looking forward to that. My issues lie almost entirely in how much I eat, not what I eat. I was able to eat almost an entire turkey sandwhich on Monday (no mayo, no bread; wrapped in lettuce) when I should have been able to eat less than half. The whole thing was nothing in the calorie department in the grand scheme of things, but the fact that I could eat it didn't make me happy. (Neither did the fact that I kept eating it, knowing I shouldn't. But that's my fault, not the band's.)

I go in for fill #3 on July 30, I am looking forward to some restriction!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
