Surgery Tuesday and I'm PETRIFIED!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok so I'm getting banded on Tuesday and I am SCARED TO DEATH. I'm scared of the surgery, scared of the pain (big time), and scared of what happens after the surgery. I know it's just nerves, but it almost has me paralyzed. (figuratively speaking)

I have everything I need for home (and then some) and a totally awesome husband, family, and friends that are sooo supportive.

I have no idea why I'm so scared, but it's awful.

I have read everything of what to expect. My problem is that I feel like I am going to be the worst case scenario about every aspect of the band.

AAAHHHH!

Ok, just needed to vent!

Kris

Hey Kris, the vast majority of people do really, really well, and many are able to return to work or normal activies within days, not weeks, not months. Like Jessie likes to say, "what makes you think you're so special?"

Actually, I think we are all special... :D You will do fine. Honest!

It's hard to believe we've waited so long to make this change, and know were gonna be wearing those cute clothes in the "normal" sizes yet it is still scarry.

YOU"LL BE GREAT!! just keep picturing those thin thighs.

I've had 2 band surgeries (faulty tubing in the first band) and another major surgery...not saying this isn't serious. It is.

Postive thoughts going your way and Congratulations

Hey Kris,

We can so do this together, I'm on Tuesday aswell, about 12 hrs from now to be exact, even though we're from opposites ends of the earth, I wish you luck, I'm sh*t scared also but this would have to be the most positive thing I have ever done for myself! Keep in touch and let me know how your big day goes.

Tina

You would not be normal if you were not scared, nervous etc. It will be over soon, you will heal, and be on your way to a brand new lifestyle. My mother-in-law would always tell me "And this to shall pass" she is right. Go window shopping and look at cloths in the regular sizes today to give yourself something to do and look forward to. You will do good and be fine. I will say a little prayer for you.

Kris - It is normal to feel all you are feeling. You will be fine, and it will be over before you know it. Good luck, and please post when you are able and let us know how your surgery went.

Hey! Lets all be nervous wrecks together! I get banded on Thurs and I'm having trouble sleeping. I'm sure this is the right decision for me so I'll hang in there as best I can. Good Luck to all!!!

Kris,

You will be just fine. I was scared too but I internalize mine and don't let anyone know how I really feel. Thanks to a great hubby I did just fine getting home and help around the house. I moved slowly the first 3 days and then all of the sudden I really started to feel like my normal self again. I'll make sure I send up a prayer for you.

Well, Kris, it's now Tuesday, and you're probably in the hospital as I write this. How are you? Welcome to Bandland! You'll get past the first few days, and should be feeling better by the weekend.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
