Illinois Medicaid

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure how to post this agan. I made one post about locating a doctor in Illinois that accepts the Illinois Medicaid Card and got a great list of Chicago area doctors, Thanks so much. I was wondering if anyone would have a list of doctors in the Central or Southern part of Illinois. Any and all help would be very valuable. I reached beyond desparation awhile back. Thank you for your time.

Dr. Albert Gilman in Decatur, IL. He accepts Medicaid. You must have a BMI of 40 or above though to see him. His number is 217.876.2750. He is the absolute only one I could find in Central Illinois. His address is 302 West Hay St. Suite 140.

Illinois Medicaid does cover the lap band if you BMI is at least 40 or if it is 35-39 with at least two comorbidities. You will need a doctor who will do the band, a psych evaluation (which is not typically covered by Medicaid and can cost between $250-$600) and an appointment with your surgeon's nutritionist who must also say you are a good candidate for the surgery.

Your surgeon can then submit it for approval. Mine was just submitted so I am not sure how long it takes to hear back.

All of my other testing is done for my surgeon as well due to other issues I had going on in my life anyway.

I hear there are a number of doctors in the Chicago and Peoria area that are accepting Medicaid and one in Decatur.

Good Luck!

Herrin Hospital, aka, New Life Weight Loss Center, Herrin Illinois, find Carbondale, (S.I.U), and Marion Il, (I 57), and its right between the 2 towns. They are Medicare and Medicaid accredited now.

If you are looking for a doctor in the central area of the state I would reccomend Carle Hospital in Urbana. If that is too far to travel then call them and ask if they can refer you to someone closer to where you live. A lot of the bariatric clincs know eachother. If you get a referal you are better off than going in cold. Any questions just message me.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
