I cant belive Im actually doing this. I never had any type of disapline at lest not this hard of one. and so if I can actually do this... I will be so very proud of myself. This is my first post and my first time on any message board. This month has been a whirlwind for me. I lost my job on April 8th. I had applied for the lap band surgery about 5 weeks ago. I got word from my insurance company this past Monday that that both me and my husband were qualified for the surgery. We went to the doctor on Tuesday and I explained that I lost my job and that my insurance expires at the end of the month. The doctor scheduled my surgery for April 27th and my husbands for April 29th. I was kind of surprised that I qualifed so easily. My current weight is 187 and I am 5'6". I have dieted and failed for about 15 years now. I am doing this for my health since I have a strong family history of heart disease and diabetes. After reading some things on this site I am starting to get scared. Does anyone regret getting the band? I saw a post eariler and can't find it now where a person said she regretted it. I am getting really nervous, it all happend sooooo fast!

Thanks Jamie... your a sweetheart!!

BeckyInTX.... Thanks... I know im not the only one going through this... I have had one surgery where I was put under.... and I was scared.. but it was just my ankle... This seems so much more then that you know,.... its not just a torn tendon..but a life changing experience... and I think that is what hits me the most... Im so ready for this and will do all I can do to make it.

Thanks you all... I will post more when I can Take Care

When I quit, the first week was the hardest. I would tell myself, "just today I won't smoke" than it would be bed time. I would be so proud for not smoking that day. And everyday I would say the same thing. I've been smoke free for over two years, now. YOU CAN DO IT!!

Trish, You go girl!! I also packed a week before surgery. Then unpacked and repacked about 3 times. I never used one thing I packed once I got there. Wore hospital gown, they gave me a tooth brush, paste, comb, booties, and everything else I needed.

But it doesn't hurt to be prepaired.

Good luck to you and I will be praying for a speedy recovery!!

(((((HUGS)))))

Correction to Zoe's post.... Jenna TRIED to quit smoking..... she (me) is still trying. ((sigh)) it is soooooo hard but you are doing great Trish! I want to be an ex smoker sooooo badly but I just can't kick it all together. I sneak one now and then. So instead of a 1/2-1 pack a day I am more like 3-4 cigarettes a day. Longest I got was 5 days then I crumbled. But I am still trying EVERY day! I won't give up trying until I am completely smoke free! I almost made it but these darn nicotine Migraines pushed me over the edge.

I used the patch and it helped some but didn't take away my headaches or the nausea I got from the patch. When I go to Mexico in 2 weeks I am going to get more (much cheaper there) and try it again.

It is so disgusting and I hate it hate it hate it! Every cigarette now I feel like such a failure and guilty!

PLEASE stop Trish. That way I can see your success and try and ride your coat tails!! If I see you succeed then I will be even more motivated to stop all together!!!

Your date is getting closer!!!!!! WOOOOOOT!

Hi all I was banded on the 21st and I'm home and doing great! I'm alittle sore and was sick to my stomache the day of the band. I'm eating some malto meal for Breakfast so anxious to see how that goes. So far so good. Good luck Trish if you have any questions I'll try to be of some help.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
