Have you tried puff corn? It has a very similar taste as it is "puffed corn". My 18 month old daughter LOVES it. You have to be careful though, 2 1/2 cups(which is a lot) has 160 cals and 10g fat. If you loved popcorn though and couldn't eat it, it would be a good alternative on occassion.

Thanks for the idea... I haven't tried it. I will keep an eye out for it. I love popcorn. Not an item I want all the time thought.. one of those weird 3 month cravings that hit.

I know I haven't been brave enough to try popcorn yet, but as I am only 3 weeks out from surgery I think it is too soon to try foods that could be a problem. I really miss eating popcorn at the theater though.

I love popcorn and still eat it on a regular basis.

The only difference now is that I do not eat it by the fistful but one kernel at a time and chew it really well.

Like all food it is important to chew it well.

Me too. I love it and love to eat it at the movies still. The only difference is I order a medium & have them fill it up only about half way. I eat it one kernel at a time and chew chew chew...yum I love it! :D

I see alot of ppl like the 100 cal packs.... i was told they are not worth the 100 cals . Little nutrition and not as filling ( not sure on that part since i dont eat them ). But im guessing everyone loves them :)

I just had popcorn at the cinema yesterday for the first time since being banded 8 months ago. I have very good restriction right now (at my sweet spot in fact!) and the popcorn went down with no problems at all. I chewed it very well. I was nervous about it since I hadn't eaten any since being banded. It's not something I eat a lot. We only go to the cinema maybe 4 times a year at most and I almost never have popcorn at home.

It's true popcorn has little nutritional value, is packed with lots of things people trying to lose weight shouldn't eat, is not filling, etc. but that isn't the reason people are eating it. They're eating it because they are satisfying a craving, and in my opinion there is nothing wrong with that. I see nothing wrong with it at all. The only reason a banded person shouldn't enjoy the popcorn from time to time or in limited quantity is if it DOES cause them physical problems, like the sliming, PBing or swollen esophagus.

If you can satisfy a craving by doing it sensibly, then by all means. I used to eat popcorn nearly every night, and I've had it a few times since surgery. Sometimes it's no problem and the next time I'll feel sick. Go figure...

Well, hubby stayed in the movie with the kiddos while I paid $8.00 to stay in the bathroom with a massive sliming experience.

$8??!!!! I want to go to your movie theater. Around here its past $10 for a movie ticket!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
