I'm very nervous - surgery is tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

Well, tomorrow is the big day. I'm just waiting now for my "after 1pm phone call" from the hospital telling me what time to show up tomorrow for the surgery.

Last night I told my husband that I thought I didn't need to do this. He just kind of looked at me and waited for the eventual, "no, I do need this" reply to my own statement.

The commute was awful today. My co-workers are driving me nuts. It's been a bad morning all around. The stress of the day is eating at me and I just wanted to leave and go home.

I feel like crying. What the heck is that about?!

I KNOW I'm doing the right thing. I'm not questioning that...it's just that my emotions are so wonky. I'm driving myself nuts.

Anyway, I just needed to get that off my chest. I can't concentrate at work and I know I should be home finishing up the house cleaning and laundry since I'll be recovering for the next couple of days.

I'm usually so together. I feel like I've mentally gone off the deep end. :wink2:

I say blame it on the wonky co-workers. Is there any way you can skedaddle a little early and go home and relax for a bit???

Hi Ericalyn:

Anytime we try to do something different and "face the unknown"

it is hard! Look at the end result, you want to be healthier and

slimmer. Ask yourself am I worth it? Will my husband be proud

that I did it? Can I go on the way I am currently, Healthwise?

I had my surgery Feb. 26th. I picked that date because that

was a good number for my husband and myself. We used to live

on 26th Ave., I was 26 when I gave birth to our daugher. She

was born on the 26th! I had 8 mos. to mentally condition myself

for this surgery! It went so smoothly, too. I had no pain! I was

just dried out from not having Water for several hours.

Want to know the best part? It happened so fast I didn't even

realize that the surgery had been done!

It is going to be the best decision you ever made.

So far I have lost 39 lbs. and I look forward to each new day.

Just keep a positive attitude! That will take you a long way!

I wish you well,

Judie

Thank you both for your responses. They helped a lot. I think I am going to leave early. I'm no use here and I need some time to gather my thoughts together.

I am worth it. I know I need this surgery. I think maybe I'm flipping out because I need this surgery so badly. I love my husband and my family so much. I've got to lose this weight before I have a stroke. My BP is so high, my thyroid is conking out and I have Type II diabetes - I want to LIVE not just muddle through.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm going to pack up and head home.

I look forward to posting an encouraging report after my surgery!

Hi Erica,

I just want to add my two cents worth. What you are going through is normal. I have asked my husband the same question (Do I need to have this surgery?) and he gives me the supporting husband look and says to me "whatever you want to do is fine with me, but I think you should go ahead and do it". He is very supportive about me having the surgery. I am working tonight and I will be thinking about you. I hope you get a good night's rest and tommorow just think about all the good things thats about to happen to you. I am scheduled for the 20th and I am excited, worried, doubtful and everything, but I am going to have the surgery. We are here for you. Let us know how it goes and congratulations! Lots of hugs to you. :)

It is natural to panic before any major step or commitment we make in life. I was a wreck the day before my surgery and actually started freaking out and crying minutes before I went in. Fortunately my Doc was great and reassured me that this happens often. Just keep reminding yourself that this was not a decision that you came to over night. Keep your eye (and thoughts) on how much better life will be when you lose weight and can get a new start at life!

I am 2 months post op. This was the best decision I ever made in my life. I know I am going to lose the weight this time, and I can not wait to get started on my new life as a thinner, healthier person.

Jump in with both feet and take control of your life!!

God Bless and Here's to life on the other side!

Jeri

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
