I busted through my plateau...

Recommended Posts

After my last time of the month around the week of April 15th I gained 7 pounds of Water weight after losing 24 pounds. I then lost 2 pounds making my new loss 19 pounds.

I then, was at a standstill for 3+ weeks and had no loss.

I had been only eating 400-700 calories as of April, so I upped my calorie intake to 1000-1100. So I figured once my body realizes its no longer in Starvation Mode, it will let me lose more.

Today was that day...WooHoo...

I lost 8 pounds this week....

So I'm now 3 pounds from my first goal....

I also have a special Thank You to all of you who told me to quit weighing myself every day...

It helped me so much...

I've been doing a happy dance all day!!

 Way to go!! I am happy for you too! :smile2: I had the same problem..the scale wouldn't move and here I was starving!! There is no justice in my scale until I finally quit watching it like a hawk! :biggrin2: Nothing feels as good as stepping on that nasty machine and losing 4, 5, or *8* pounds and being able to say ~ Take that!! :w00t: Keep it up, you're doing FANTASTIC!!

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! I am so jealous!!

I usually weigh myself twice in the morning and twice in the evening. (I do it twice to make sure I get the same thing two times) Sounds a little OCD? Well, I have to admit, that scale hasn't been moving. In fact, it may have even gone up.

I haven't weighed myself yet today, and I am thinking about not weighing for the rest of the weekend. SCARY!! I am so addicted to that thing. But I am ready for some results!!!

HELP!

That is SO awesome BlessedTwice! I had the same experience this week (actually this morning). I've been staying away from the scale because it just makes me crazy. I haven't weighed myself in over a week and my eyes almost popped out of my head this morning when I got on the scale and realized I'm down 11 pounds in two weeks:w00t:. I was SO happy!! I know I've been losing...especially inches because I've been doing alot of exercise, but WOW that felt good:thumbup:. So, I'm going to keep the scale on the back burner and keep doin' what I'm doin'!! Congrats again to you for your wonderful victory!!

Gotta love the band!!

Congrats! I'm so very, very jealous but equally happy for you. Guess I'll put the scale in the closet for a while.

I think plateaus are the hardest thing for me. So self-defeating. My body says "Meh, I'm gonna hang on to all of these pounds." and I get so discouraged that I say "Have some more then.". Luckily I've had all of you to help keep my spirits up during this frustrating time. Thanks.

I was so frustrated. I kept waiting and waiting...I was also OCD about my scale. I weighed myself whenever I was in the bathroom, when I brushed my teeth, when I helped my sons brush their teeth, when they took a bath, before I got in the shower, after the shower, when I cleaned the bathroom, etc....I almost threw it out in the yard...since I was so frustrated. If I had not spend alot of money on it...It would have had a new home....lol

You all with bust through soon!

Yeah!! Those plateaus are the pits, makes the mind think too many bad things.

8 pounds in a week is FABULOUS!!!

blessedtwice, that is so great - what an accomplishment! 8 lbs. in one week is so fantastic. I'm sure your body needed to come to the realization that it was not being starved.

Weighing everyday does not work for everyone and can drive some crazy! If you were getting to the point which you mentioned, it is best not to do it as much. Once a week is sufficient.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
