Bruising..

Recommended Posts

Ok, heres the weird thing. I had no bruising near my incisions untill I went out with some friends, did entirely too much walking and laughed my head off. I went home with this..

This was taken about 6 days after my surgery.. There were no bruises, now suddently a monsterous one. Is this normal? or did I break myself.

Hey Kendra, it looks liek you had the bruse for a while, given the yellow color. It is possible that the bruse just took a while to surface. When my bruse finally surfaced it had started to change color already

Thats true. It really could have just been it took that long. THanks for all the replies!

Word to the wise, stay away from friends that make you laugh too hard after surgery. lol

The yellow is from the camra (i took the piccy), her skin is peach around the cuts theres some goobery stuff the doc put over her scars (like a dried Glue thats making the image Bright yellow in those spots, its the glue shining back on the camra) Cause physically on her skin she is a normal coloring.

I didn't bruise, but my mom had some big brusies and we had the same surgeon. He must have had to smack her a couple of times, LOL.

Yes I had the same Doctor as well and yet I recieved no bruises, the only odd thing I find about the bruising is that its showen up on her 5 days Post-Op They didnt show up at all until then.

Lmao!! Maybe thats what they had to do with me. Or maybe it was the "

Im fine see!" :smack smack: thing right after anesthesia.

Okay, I had my surgery last Friday, so 5 days post-op, and some incisions are more bruised than others, but they are ALL the yellowy brown, I have none of the bright reddish purpley kind you have on the one...is that your port incision? Better be careful, quit being so darn chipper and laughing so much!!! LOL ;) I'll bet it heals up quick, just keep an eye on it.

The big red one? I think thats my port O.o Im not sure. It didnt get red like that untill I laughed the whole day. There was probably some bleeding through under the skin.

Im glad to hear yours look good! =) Hope you heal well as well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
