Okay, I go for my second fill tomorrow. I want him to really fill me up. If I tell him I feel like I've had no restriction, will he do that or do they always do a little at a time??? I want to lose faster!!!:)

It depends on your surgeon. Some surgeons are very conservative and only fill you a little at a time, while others are more aggressive, and give you bigger fills. We all want to have good restriction, and it's hard waiting for that time to come. Be patient, you'll get there.

You don't want to be too full. I've been too full and had to go back for a slight unfill. I wasn't able to drink anything and I even had a hard time swallowing my spit.

It all depends on how aggressive your doc is. Just be honest with them.

I have a 10cc band and my first fill was 2 wks ago, and I was given 3ccs. I gained 2 pounds over the two weeks and really could eat anything I wanted without a problem. I told my fill nurse this, and she gave me the maximum that they are allowed to give for a second fill, which was 2ccs, so now I am at 5ccs. Yesterday, after the fill, even though I'm supposed to be on liquids, I was starving, and had a small sandwich, and for dinner had some bbq meatballs. The lunch went down fine. The dinner was getting pretty tough - i had to chew and chew. by late evening, I had a piece of bread with a little Nutella on it, and I had to "PB" it up - it was definitely stuck.

Today, I had a fat-free mousse and a cup of Soup for Breakfast, and had chicken pate for lunch. Took me about 40 minutes to finish that tiny portion, because I had to go slowly.

So, I hope this feeling of restriction lasts. I wish it didn't feel uncomfortable to eat, but I realize now how slowing down to chew and swallow is so important. My lunch date said: "man, at this rate, you're going to waste away!" and I said "I know! I can't believe I didn't scarf that down in five minutes! but if I would have, it would have been from scarf to barf!" and he said "well, then, I appreciate your efforts!" :cursing:

Everybody is different, but right now, at 5ccs, I'm feeling good.... Its only been a day after my second fill - who knows, maybe in a day or two the band will loosen up and I'll need another "top up". Time will tell.

Just be up front with your surgeon, and he/she will make that decision. Your surgeon knows best.

I know it really stinks and we want results yesterday, but take your time. You don't want to run the risk of being too over-filled. This can cause you to PB all the time and if you do this too much it can lead to other problems, like band slippage. Then you will have NO band, so just remember - a little patience goes a long way.

I wish you the best!

Losing weight fast is nice, but getting sick all the time isn't. Pbs and excessive restriction can really damage your esophagus and lead to some long term problems. Slow and easy really is the best.

What exactly is "PB"? I have seen it referenced all over but not sure what this means.

Thank you for helping me with the terminology.

I went 6 weeks being overfilled and it was a nightmare. I was dehydrated because it was painful to drink all the Water you are suppose to. I threw up daily and began to throw up a nice frothy white foam. I had to go to emerg twice because I felt like I was having a heart attack - if you are overfilled, any stress will result in you feeling like there is a giant clamp around your chest - trust me, it is not worth it. Take your fills slowly, it will come.

I HAD chest pain before and after my fills so I don't know if I'm actually restricted. I know before I was eating too fast or not chewing enough, but after this last fil I know I'm not.

I was banded on 2/22, 6 wks later got 4 cc & 4 wks later on May 1st I got 1 cc. I can tell a huge difference with the 1cc. Almost everything that I was eating before now is difficult to eat...several times this week I didnt feel like eating because it is such an effort to chew...I havent puked...but I have had the food get stuck & painfully have to wait for the food to pass. How did your 2nd fill go?

I was banded on 03/05/08 and I had my second fill this week. I only had 1 cc added, but it has made the biggest difference. I have had to cut down lots on how fast I was eating and how much. I am hoping to meet my first goal of being under 200 lbs by my 30th birthday in June.

you were banded in feb. you did not gain the weight all at once. take your time, and enjoy the ride, and what a ride it is. if you want it to go faster exercise.

getting a too tight fill is not good, as you wont' be able to hold Water.< /p>

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
