I am a very high-strung person. I'm a hypochondriac. I usually am taking 1-4mg Lorazepam to get me through the day.

I am calm right now. Collected. Reserved optimism and excited. I am no longer nervous about the surgery, no longer scared. In fact, I am more happy about being able to play Wii on my parent's new 52" LCD during my recovery than anything.

I think what helped me down the nerves was going out and buying absolutely everything I will need for the first three weeks after surgery. Everything is all set up and ready to be consumed as needed. I set up the couch at my parents with all my favorite pillows for when I stay over there and I made arrangements for who will be taking care of me every day for the first 5 days after surgery.

I think this really helped my nerves and helped me settle down. I am now actually on my very own pre-op diet (as my doctor didn't put me on one) and am consuming only liquids. Thank god the month long last supper is over. Lol.

May 8th. Only 2 more days of work after today. Lol.

Hey Nicole,

Thanks for your post, reading it made me feel a little calmer myself! I'm also perscribed Lorazepam, 10mg but I only take it when I really need it ( I have other meds I take daily). I would say I usually take my Lorazepam once or twice a month. I've been making an effort to try and take it less.

My surgery is on the 20th and I've been waiting a bit until I'm closer to my date to get all my stuff for after surgery, but I think once I have all my stuff together I will be more ready and set to go. I'm going shopping today for my pre-op diet. My doc didn't put me on one either, but I'm going to try and lose a good 5-10lbs before surgery anyway. Oh, and I agree...Wii is super fun!!

I'm going to Mexican food tonight wiht a bunch of friends, and that is going to be my last last-supper meal! Then onto pre-op diet tomorrow!

Hope all goes well for you!

Marine

I'm with ya, Nicole. I have some serious anxiety (ahh, drugs!). My main question at the first seminar was "The drugs.. tell me about the DRUGS! When do we get the happy calm DRUGS?!" People laughed but I was serious! I am not going under the knife without some serious happy shots!

Anyway, I know tomorrow is your date and I am thinking of you. Sending CALM thoughts your way.

You've prepared all that you need; there's nothing left to do. You've done more than you need and so you'll be great.

Best wishes!

Oh jeeze this thread was made for me, I have been on anti-anxiety meds since I was 12!!! I've been off meds since June 2007, I've tried to take my pills (I've been on everything but was on cymbalta when I went off) but they make me violently ill if I ever take one, since you have to wean yourself on with lower doses. I'm trying to deal with my nerves by cleaning and preparing everything. Although I have two finals tomorrow and a big final project I have to work on tonight so that might be adding to the stress a bit, also I'm working 40 hours this weekend, ewww... Anyways, good luck today Nicole! I know you will do fine!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
