Help its been a year and I just am not losing

Recommended Posts

The muscle weighs more than fat issue is really meant that as a person loses inches its because fat is fluffy where as muscle is dense and compact............ meaning that as a person loses FAT they lose inches.. and exercising building muscle... and I think that if I grabbed a handfull of fat and a handfull of muscle the fat would weigh much less (think cotton candy) than the same mass of muscle (think steak)

I welcome reading all posts .. and yes.. tough love is just that... and she did WARN people.. (it just happens to be what I needed to hear at this point in my day) and I have used the phrase muscle weighs more than fat a lot in my life...... but I guess what I meant is the actual volume of the mass............ cotton candy vs steak.......

dang it now I'm hungry!

No Cotton Candy Tracy - it might weigh less but it wasted calories - have the steak instead you need your protien

See you in Vegas at the end of June

Well Indio, I'm certainly prone to take advice from someone four pounds from goal than someone who is supposedly so set in their beliefs that they are too scared to come back and read what someone may say in response to their response to your reponse *whew*

:)

Thanks Bikinibeachy

I practice what I preach:tongue: and as the saying goes the proof in the pudding :lol:

I gotta say that from all the people who have read my little soap box tough band love post (and quite a few have) I have had only 2 negative responses. And I will stand by a pound is a pound - size might be diff - but a pound is a pound...

Like I say we all need a kick in the butt at one time or another and I really try my hardest not to be mean - and help others who have lost their way and need a little motivation - cuz you never know - I may need you all to kick me in the butt one day

Hi IndioGirl! You really seemed to know what you are talking about any I am new with the lapband and this site. I was only a little over 58 pounds overweight when I decided to leap headfirst into the radio ads for lapbands. $15,000, extreme pain and little to no weight loss 6 weeks later, I am feeling really desperate about my situation. My husband on the other hand has a gastric bypass 8 years ago - lost 336 pounds and the a lap band and lost another 85 pounds. As for me, my port area is painful and bulging, my weight is not going down and I can barely wear anything tight as I get post surgery pains around my stomach. My doctor has been VERY slow to fill my band as I am terrible about the restriction - I freak out. Therefore, I may consider takinh it out. Do you know or have anyone that has removed the lapband or experiencing ongoing pain with the port area and not achieving ANY weight loss in any capacity?

I am sorry for your struggles - I am surprised that you were banded - I thought the 75 lbs overweight was the rule of thumb.

How long have you been banded? What are you eating? Are you exercising. Have your talked to your Doctor about your pain.

Not achieving any weight loss sound like you could be eating around your band - The band itself isn't going to make you lose the weight you are in control of that by what you eat and the amount of exercise you do.

There is a big diff between bypass and banding - bypasser don't absorb their calories where as a bander does - plus it sounds like you dh had a lot more to lose than you do.

I would suggest you talk to your doctor - track your calories.

You can always go to the Lapband complication/removal thread too.

Good Luck..

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
